  JOE HENDERSON       Mode For Joe         Blue Note BST 84227
Up for auction is an original 1966 Blue Note Stereo press of Joe Henderson's fifth studio release for Blue Note, "Mode For Joe". Recorded in early 1966, this fantastic septet session borders on big band sound. 3 Henderson originals, 2 Cedar Walton originals, and one amazing up-tempo Lee Morgan blues composition. A great album. fairly rare with this label and condition.           
DEAD WAX INFO:  Side 1 has BNST 84227-A etched, and VAN GELDER stamped into the dead wax. Side 2 has BNST 84227-B etched, and VAN GELDER stamped into the dead wax. Stone original NY Stereo press, circa fall 1966.   VINYL VISUAL: VG+ and better overall with very few light marks. Some bubbling on Side 1 label (see pictures).
VINYL PLAY GRADE:  VG+ AT BEST OVERALL with AMAZING FIDELITY but some light ticking on about half of the tracks. I heard 3 light ticks on A Shade of Jade. Also 3 light ticks on Caribbean Fire Dance. The worst is on the title track (Mode For Joe), with light ticking pretty much through Ron Carter's rather quiet bass solo (about a minute). MOST OF THE LP PLAYS AT NM, but the light ticking forces a downgrade. Having said this, the lp is a GREAT LISTEN, with Side 2 playing near flawless (with the exception of the mentioned Caribbean Fire Dance). I'm being fairly picky here, because this lp will no doubt generate a lot of interest, being one that is not that easy to track down (at least an original like this with NY labels).          
COVER VISUAL: VG+ AT BEST with 2 dinged corners and some flaking on top and bottom seam. Spine is good and fully readable.    
Comes with original Blue Note branded 27 Years paper inner (EX). The vinyl is housed in an Audiophile style rice plastic inner.   DETAILS ON SELLER AND SHIPPING

ALL ITEMS WILL BE SHIPPED WITH PROPER MAILERS AND EXTRA PADDING, PARTICULARLY AT THE CORNERS. I HAVE MADE FAR TOO MANY PURCHASES ON EBAY WHERE THE ITEM HAS ARRIVED WITH DINGED CORNERS DUE TO INADEQUATE PACKAGING MATERIAL. BY USING FOLDED BUBBLE WRAP IN ALL FOUR CORNERS, YOU CAN BE ASSURED OF AN ITEM WITHOUT DINGED CORNERS (OR DAMAGE OF ANY KIND FOR THAT MATTER).             Non-tracked shipping throughout the U.S.A will be $13 CANADIAN per item, as will tracked shipping within Canada. Tracked shipping to the U.S.A. will be $16 CANADIAN for items under 500g, and slightly more for items over 500g. Most single sleeve items can be shipped as under 500g. Gatefolds and multi-sets will be over 500g. 
Being a reasonable person, I will be absorbing ALL of the shipping material cost, and some of the actual postage cost.

IF ANYONE OUTSIDE OF NORTH AMERICA IS CRAZY INTERESTED IN ANY ITEM, I WILL QUOTE SHIPPING ON REQUEST.
