Joe Cocker With A Little Help From My Friends Regal Zonophone Records LRZ 1006 1969 UK
Extremely rare mono pressing.
Joe’s brilliant debut featuring the spectacular title track “With A Little Help From My Friends, which Joe surely got on this record with Jimmy Page, Steve Winwood, B.J. Wilson and Matthew Fisher of Procol Harum, Albert Lee, Mike Kellie from Spooky Tooth and Chris Stainton and Henry McCollough from the Grease Band.
Okay we all know the title track which alone is worth the price of admission...But Joe’s versions of Traffic’s (Dave Mason) “Feelin’ Alright” and Bob Dylan’s “Just Like A Woman” are sublime. if that were not enough Joe does a brilliant version of “Bye Bye Blackbird’ and one of the most under rated songs on the record “Don’t Let me Be Misunderstood” which is a tour de force as well as another Dylan cover of “I Shall Be Released”.....And it all sounds outstanding in mono!
This album grades Excellent there is some static and light crackle and a few pops here and there it could benefit from a good cleaning which could help a lot....With all that being said...It’s a workhorse and it sounds fantastic.
A hard album to come by in any condition.
The record cover grades Excellent or better it’s a very nice iconic cover (see scans).
As with all records there may be a stray tick, click, pop or surface noise during the run ins and run outs and a touch of crackle or low level static here and there which is totally normal with vinyl. If there was anything out of the ordinary like too much of any the above I would not list the record, as I am first and foremost a record collector just like you...This paragraph is just to explain what you might encounter when buying vinyl records and is no reflection on this particular record.
