Description
Here's a very rare 1970 Warner Bros. demo acetate containing an unknown, unreleased version of Jimmy Webb's wistful classic "P.F. Sloan." Webb released two versions: the first on 1970's Words and Music LP, the second in a slower version on 1977's El Mirage. This recording must be from the same session as the one on Words and Music, but the lyrics are a little different (starts with "Has anyone seen..." rather than "I Have Been Seeking"), and arrangement is different (starts with strings instead of piano; different call-and-response harmonies in the chorus). It sounds untouched by overdubs as well.
I've uploaded audio from this version here.
You can compare it to the released versions here (1970) and here (1977).
The disc plays with quite a bit of background static, but nicely enough to enjoy.
