Description
Rare first‑press UK 45 of The Jimi Hendrix Experience debut single on Polydor, catalogue 56139. Released 16 Dec 1966, this 7″ paired the traditional song “Hey Joe” (arranged by Hendrix) with “Stone Free”, both produced by the band’s management company Yameta. 45cat notes that Polydor 56139 was “the first release anywhere in the world” by the Jimi Hendrix Experience and gives session details—A‑side recorded at London’s De Lane Lea Studios on 23 Oct 1966, B‑side on 2 Nov 1966. Vinyl here is graded VG+: it retains a lovely gloss with a few light hairlines and paper scuffs; playback is strong with light crackle in quieter passages. The push‑out centre is intact. Labels show some wear and a torn area on the A‑side where a sticker was removed, but credits remain legible. The run‑out grooves bear A1/B1 matrix stamps, confirming an early pressing. Supplied in the original red Polydor company sleeve, which is EX with crisp colours, a small corner crease and no splits.
