Description
A very rare pressing of a landmark record. The third album by The Jimi Hendrix Experience- Electric Ladyland.
This is an original pressing from the first week of release in 1968. (613008/9)
The record is in near mint condition with no scratches or signs of spindle wear.
It was released on Track Record, much rarer than the many Polydor reissues that are available.
The labels feature the upside down catalogue numbers and 'produced and directed by Jimi Hendrix. A. Schroeder Music' is elevated away from "made in Gt Britain" is as distinctive of the earliest pressings. Electric Ladyland goes over the central insert compared to later pressing s where it is lower down.
On disc 2, side C, the machine stamped run-out has been scratched out and the correct info added by hand (see image).
The discs are auto-coupled so disc one features sides A and D, disc 2 features sides B and C to assist with playing on automatic disc changers.
The sleeve is in Very Good condition. It is probably the finest example you will find of this pressing due to the poor laminating techniques used on the Track Record issues. High gloss versions that are available are later Polydor pressings. As you can see from the images, an 'unwrapped/ floating gloss laminate has been applied which didn't cover the last 2-3mm at each edge (this can be seen in the images). Later pressings have "to the edge laminating". Consequently there is some laminate creasing and scuffs to the edge but the records and cover have been kept in a protective plastic sleeve so other than this unavoidable wear and tear of a 44yr old record, the cover is in very good condition.
The track information is in white text with erratic use of capital letters. The Track Record logo is central and E J Day print data below (see image).
The record plays perfectly and the sound quality is exceptional.
