Description
SMASH HITS Mono 1st pressing on the UK TRACK label. Matrix A2/B2. Heavy set vinyl. The record comes housed in an original MONO cover with pinched spine. This is the very first version available at the shops. What's also particularly pleasing on this copy is the sheer quality of the AUDIO. I often find the original stereo copies of SMASH HITS quite disappointing from an audio standpoint, but the MONO's are a different breed all together. Not sure if that's down to the format, their relative age, or pot lock with the mastering. But one thing I can guarantee is that this MONO copy delivers the audio goods - BIG TIME.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) Looks shiny like new and has been very carefully looked after and seen very minimal use. Under close inspection there are a couple of long light wispy marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Yes, there's a couple of light static crackles audible in the occasional isolated spot. But by and large interference is very minimal and this alludes to the fact that this copy has really been used very sparingly indeed. The audio quality is stunning - proper accurate reproduction which gets right down to resolving the wailing guitars, but keeps everything distinct and separated without getting muddied. Like I said I don't think there are many copies knocking around that are going to play back like this.
Cover (Ex+) Wowzers - it really is unusual finding one of these copies in this condition. Perfectly shiny front with no laminate issues that so often afflict it. The rear is perfectly white - and I mean perfectly. There's one slight smudge, but that really is all that's vaguely worth mentioning. Perfect spine and, overall, rigidity is fantastic. Can't imagine finding a better specimen...
