Very rare original 1968 UK FIRST PRESSING Track Record label 16-track STEREO double vinyl LP, housed in the original laminated gatefold picture sleeve with naked women artwork. This is a guaranteed genuine first pressing from '68 - not one of the early '70s copies that are often sold on auction sites as originals.
The records look good and play nicely (just like they did when I bought them in ’68) but are a bit crackly, especially side D, therefore I have graded them Very Good, while the “V2” cover is in very respectable condition apart from some wear-and-tear to the openings for the records, and therefore also merits a Very Good grading. See pics. A very nice collector’s copy of this extremely rare classic.
Highly desirable for its A//1 B//1 A//1 B//1 first pressing matrices and good condition vinyl, and increasingly difficult to find in ANY condition, this could be a once in a lifetime opportunity to add this extreme rarity to your collection at an extremely advantageous price.

Notes: Errors in the matrix stamping on this early issue have been altered by hand. The # character indicates a scratch-out. The 81 on side B has the 1 backwards. The ? character on side C is a malformed character that might be a 2 or an 8.

First pressing on heavy vinyl with original 'high-dynamic' mix. Produced in auto-coupled sequence: disc one carries sides A and D, disc two has B and C.
Original matt texture ‘Version 1’ Track Record labels with additional inverted catalogue number in parenthesis above the main number.
This very first ‘Version 1’ label is slightly different from subsequent first-issue labels. The most noticeable differences being that the side letter (SIDE ?) is higher and closer to the ST33, the album title overlaps the centre indent, and that the name of the band does not have extra leading (line-space) between it and the “Produced & Directed by” text. They also have a different (rougher) texture.

Version 2 gatefold sleeve, featuring the controversial image (censored by some outlets at the time) of naked ladies on front/back.
Cover spread has 'unwrapped/floating' gloss laminate applied, matt print areas left exposed at the two cut edges where the albums insert.

This UK issue has no suffix to "Come On", "The" is prefixed to "Burning Of The Midnight Lamp" and "Cross Town" appears as two words.

The LPs are the original 1968 UK stereo LPs, which were only played occasionally and handled with care.

Electric Ladyland is the third and final album of new material by the Jimi Hendrix Experience, released in October 1968 on Track Records. It is the only Hendrix studio album professionally produced under his supervision. It topped the Billboard 200 album chart for two weeks in November 1968.
Released as a double album, Electric Ladyland is a cross-section of Jimi Hendrix's wide range of musical talent. It includes examples of several genres and styles of music: the psychedelic "Burning of the Midnight Lamp", previously a UK single in the summer of 1967; the extended blues jam "Voodoo Chile"; the New Orleans-style R&B of Earl King's "Come On"; the epic studio production of "1983... (A Merman I Should Turn to Be)"; the social commentary of "House Burning Down"; and the Sixties-era Britpop of Noel Redding's "Little Miss Strange". The album also features an electric reworking of the Bob Dylan classic "All Along the Watchtower", which has been well received by critics as well as by Dylan himself, and also "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)", a staple of both radio and guitar repertoire.

If it's true that songwriters have a vision in their head of what their dream album would be, Electric Ladyland was the project Jimi Hendrix hoped would be as close to perfection as possible. No longer content with the rush-recorded psychedelic pop-rock of Experienced and Axis, Ladyland was an exploration of what could be achieved with time, money and experience. Jimi's soul roots from his session days shine through for the first time with the laid-back groove of the title track and the doo-woppy "Long Hot Summer Night" showing a vocal style reminiscent of Curtis Mayfield. It's hard to pick a standout piece as the quality of the album is so high, but the four-part dream segue of "Rainy Day", "1983", "Moon Turn the Tides" and "Still Raining" is a monumental piece of early prog rock continuing the acid-soaked ideal of extra-terrestrials, love, peace and war that he started earlier on with "Third Stone from the Sun". However, it's not all spectacular drawn-out blues jams and sublime soundscapes, Electric Ladyland managed to produce Jimi's only UK No.1 single, "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" plus the timeless classics "Crosstown Traffic" and "All Along the Watchtower" making it arguably the best studio album the Experience produced in their brief career together.

A fantastic time warp example of this rarity in amazing condition, a true investment grade item - get it while you can!
