Jimi Hendrix -Electric Jimi Hendrix, Extremely Rare Withdrawn limited Issue UK Track label vinyl LP album, 1970
JIMI HENDRIX Electric Jimi Hendrix - Ultra Rare 1970 UK WITHDRAWN mail order only 9-track LP, unique front laminated picture sleeve. Only a few hundred copies were ever issued before the album was shelved.
There are many confusing reports about just what this album is, when it was made and why it was made. This album is Track 2856 002. From the 'Mail Order Only' tag, and the matching catalogue number, this LP was issued in 1970 and quickly withdrawn. It was most probably manufactured as an exclusive for an early incarnation of 'The Audio Club Of Great Britain', Polydor's mail order outlet, which continued to issue LPs with exclusive 'ACB' catalogue numbers well into the mid seventies in the UK.
The exact reason for them being withdrawn is not known, but it could have something to do with the labels being changed from Track to Polydor that year & the consequent re-release of the original album on Polydor. Either way, it is estimated that under three hundred of 'Electric Jimi Hendrix' were issued before they were recalled and destroyed.
Condition:
Sleeve
An incredibly rare release and is in any Hendrix collectors top five most desirable items.
The unique picture sleeve has some
light ring wear, creasing and edge scuffing, and some minor marks in places. The rear of the sleeve displays the corresponding minimal ring wear as the front. All titles are clearly visible & the spine is fully legible. The sleeve was printed by Polydor records.
Vinyl
The vinyl retains its bright sheen and is in VG+/condition with just a couple of light surface scuffs and sleeve removal hairlines. It plays through well with no distinct pops or clicks evident. There is minimal spindle wear & no writing to the label.

Side 2: 2856002 2 YA//1 168 - the first part has been hand-scored rather than machine stamped.
The sound quality is clear and dynamic and the track listing gives a set of landmark tracks that are a major part of Hendrix history.
