Description

UK first pressing of Band of Gypsys by Jimi Hendrix for sale. This is the earliest UK pressing of the live album, originally released in 1970 on the Track label. It features the withdrawn "puppet" sleeve, and A1 B1 runouts. Both the record and sleeve are in really good condition.

The record has been playtested and the audio I would grade between vg+ and ex-. There is some very light background/static noise during some very quiet parts, but no skips or sticks.

Sleeve is also in great condition (VG+), with some very minor marks on the back. (On Jimi's hair) The original poly lined inner sleeve is also included, with an additional poly inner and outer protective sleeve.

Presumably the first pressing ‘puppet’ sleeve was withdrawn once someone finally realised that Jimi Hendrix was left handed…! It also received general criticism however for the depiction of Brian Jones (who’d died the year before) along with John Peel and Bob Dylan – none of whom had anything to do with the Band Of Gypsys and only had loose associations with Hendrix. It was soon withdrawn and replaced with the Isle Of Wight gatefold.
