Description

An original 1st press of B.O.G. on the UK Track label. Please note there are some really early copies with the "Puppet" cover that fetch huge sums. This design was thought distasteful around the time of Jimi's passing. They then opted for a photo of him playing at the I.O.W. festival - THIS is that copy and would have been available for purchase within a couple of months of first release. Matrix A1/B1. Please note these early copies are pressed much heavier than later copies - and were built to last. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover with an original plastic bag warning inner sleeve from 1970. So, it's 100% genuine and 100% complete. As a little added extra for the avid collector we're also including an original newspaper clip from a music magazine in '72.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) Very sweet looking slab of vinyl which has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with just slightest deviation in the odd spot. By and large a very nice clean player. Intros and inbetweens very nice and quiet and the audio comes over with great clarity. Now, remember this TITLE has often been played to death and the quiet sections will exhibit crackle...It will have to be a nice early heavy copy which has only seen light use to stand half a chance of delivering a QUALITY RENDITION. And this copy is precisely what any collector should be getting interested in... Yes, there's a touch of lightest static in one or two brief spots per side. But this is very minor and infrequent. By and large you're going to get to hear this LIVE performance with super clarity. Nothing remotely nasty spoiling those quieter moments. You're going to hear all that intricate guitar wizardry and the crowds handclaps fade in and out. A great rendition, not perfect, but WAY WAY better than what typically surfaces.
Cover (Ex-) Again, these covers are a nightmare to find in decent condition. But the owner of this LP was clearly someone who took more care than most. Back and front are nice and clean with only light ring wear on the rear. The interior is really really smart - nice deep blacks. There's no sign of fading or scuffing, or foxing. Very impressive. There's a bit of edge wear in places, but it's much less than you tend to find. The openings are still sharp. The spine is exhibiting a touch of fade and a small amount of wear in the odd spot [no big deal]. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) One two inch side split. Light ageing otherwise very nice.
