Description

I am selling my entire vinyl collection over the next few onths. Beatles and Led Zeppelin all gone now. Next up is Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Yardbirds, Who, Small Faces.
This example of Axis: Bold as Love I purchased from a very well known UK dealer from Essex about 25 years ago, at a UK record fair, before the days of eBay. He is here on eBay - known for his extremely detailed descriptions. He graded it as nr Mint. I still have the price label. I have never played it in all these years, until today. Played through Rega RP3/Ortofon/Naim kit.
The mono sound is just superb. A few crackles here and there, no doubt dust as I have had this stored away upright out of sunlight amongst all my other vinyl since 1993. No pops no jumps.
Visually graded indoors the vinyl does indeed look nr Mint. But taking advantage of the blazing sunshine I took it outside, and unsurprisingly there are hairlines - after all the record must have been pulled in and out of the sleeve a few times in the ensuing 52 years. That is why I am grading it EX. I'll include the original dealer's card just for the hell of it.

  • Matrix / Runout (A-Side Runout, Stamped): 612 003 A ? 1
  • Matrix / Runout (B-Side Runout, Stamped): 612 003 B ? 1

The sleeve is EX. No tears, stains, writing, splits, laminate lifting. 4 good corners and a complete spine. No ring-wear. Printed and made by Ernest J. Day & Co. Ltd. London
Manufactured in Great Britain by Polydor Records Ltd., London
Labels are flawless. It seems to have been carefully placed on record decks over the years as spindle marks are minimal. ? 1967

Plain white inner. It's old, with some browning, but I don't know if it's original.
The lyric sheet/poster is also in excellent condition. I just took it out of its plastic protector sleeve now for the first time in 25 years and noticed that it might have been professionally repaired decades ago, as there appears to be tape very carefully applied to the fold on the rear. It looks too well done to be done by any old tom dick or harry to be honest. It might have been put there as a precautionary measure. It looks old.
What more to say? This really is a stunning example of classic 60s psychedilia by the master.
I start all my auctions at £1.00. I don't see any point in higher starting prices. I don't do Buy It Now auctions, or stop auctions early at anyone's request. So no need to ask.
