Description
Offered here is a factory-sealed copy of Jim Sullivan’s self-titled 1970 album on Century City Records (CCR-5000), the scarce second private pressing of what is more widely known by its original title, U.F.O. This gatefold release followed the 1969 Monnie Records private pressing and features a different, more balanced mix of the same songs, one that some collectors and reviewers actually prefer to the original. The album was recorded with members of the Wrecking Crew, including Don Randi, Earl Palmer, and Jimmy Bond, and has become a cornerstone of private-press psych/folk collecting, gaining a wider cult following after Light in the Attic’s later reissue and Sullivan’s still-unsolved 1975 disappearance in New Mexico. This copy remains factory sealed in its original shrink wrap, unopened. Jacket presents in Near Mint condition: all four corners are sharp with no bumping or splitting, spine text is clean and fully legible, and front and back panels lie flat with no warping. Shrink wrap shows light rippling consistent with age and normal shelf storage, with slight lifting at the lower front corner; no tears in the shrink. A small mark near the top of the rear panel appears to be either a printing-process dot from the original run or faint surface mark beneath the shrink. Century City Records branding and CCR 5000 catalog text are crisp and clearly visible on the rear panel. A genuinely scarce piece for collectors of West Coast private-press folk-rock, outsider singer-songwriters, or Wrecking Crew session work — sealed copies of this specific Century City pressing rarely surface.
