Description
Jim Spencer was an incredibly talented musical artist from Milwaukee. This mega rare first pressing of his first album features his psych-folk style of music and was released by Thoth Records, in 1973. This unique and rare black vinyl pressing includes the paper insert of lyrics and also comes with a 7 inch single, also on the Thoth label, of two songs from the album, being "The One Who Cries" (music co-written by Jim Spencer and John Voyles) and and "River Run" (music by Spencer and Illze Platais, with lyrics co-written by Spencer with Kathleen Wiegner, a local Milwaukee poet.)
Jim Spencer tragically died very early on and shortly after the release of his three albums, LANDSCAPES,, 2nd Look , and Major Arcana. All three albums are now highly sought after collectors items..
I had the pleasure of meeting Jim Spencer personally and watching him perform several times in Milwaukee. He was a good friend of my sister Joyce Peterson, Gary Peterson and Robert Borden. I also got to meet and know one of collaborators, Sigmund Snopek the !!, another very collectible 1970's artist from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My sister, brother-in-law and I all all wrote for the Bugle American, a local underground newspaper.
