Description

Jethro Tull   "Thick As A Brick"

This is an original US vinyl pressing on Reprise MS 2072  from 1972.     This is an edited white label promo copy.      It's the rarest US Jethro Tull album.    I've only seen 3 copies in 40 years !!

This album was their follow-up to the amazing 'Aqualung' album.     And they blew everyone away.    The whole album is one long song.    ( I saw them live in Hawaii in 1973 and they played the whole song and it lasted about an hour)    The writing is outstanding.   And they gave the credit to Gerald Bostock.     Plus it cames in a cover that opened up and opened down into a 12 page newspaper.   (  Have you ever read this entire newspaper ???    I still can't comprehend most of it.    It seems that every article is somehow inter-twined and you have to go back and re-read it over and over. )     What a great album !!   It was their last great album too.

This copy is an edited copy.   It's edited so that disc jockeys could pick out one short section and play it on the radio like it was one song.    On this pressing the music actually stops for about 5 seconds between each section.     ( when you are used to listening to it as a whole it really shocks you to hear the silence.)      Side one has been edited into 5 sections.    The edits seem to be in perfect places.    Each would sound good on the radio.      Side two is edited into 3 sections.    These don't seem to be as radio friendly.    The front cover has a time strip on it that lists the edits and timings.

Overall Condition is : Cover is VG /  Record is M-

The cover is VG with no ring wear, no writing , and no seam splits.   The front cover has top edge wear, bent corners, and one tiny stain at top right.     The inside gatefold and newspaper is perfect.    The time strip on the front cover has corner wrinkles where someone tried to peel it off, but gave up quickly.       The vinyl looks near mint and it plays near mint.    The labels are perfect with no spindle marks.  The record comes in a WB/Reprise inner sleeve.

The songs are : Thick As A Brick : side one edits : 3:02, 2:10, 5:40, 4:06, and 5:12.    Side two edits : 7:14, 5:10, and 3:30.

About Me :

I started collecting records in 1966.     I started selling in Goldmine in 1985.      I now sell records at all Northwest record conventions : Portland, Seattle, Tacoma, Eugene, Grants Pass, and Canby.       And at Crossroads Music in Portland, Oregon.     My records are from a no smoking and no pets home.

Packaging :

I take great care on every package and I do each one personally.     I will package this record between two pieces of hand cut cardboard.     Each piece is 1/2 inch thick, triple strength industrial cardboard.       Together they are very strong and unbendable.   ( Even the postmen comment on how strong this cardboard is ! )       I always remove the record from the cover and seal them in a clear plastic sleeve.     The package will be marked in red : "Fragile Record" on both sides.

Postage :  Weight : 1 pound 11 ounces

You have to pay for the postage.     I pre-weigh every record, so that you pay the exact amount the post office charges.   There are no handling charges.     This record will weigh 27 ounces ( 1 pound, 11 ounces ) when ready to ship.   US bidders can figure out your own postage costs for US Priority or Media Mail.    All US winners will get shipping through Paypal and an automatic email with the tracking number.      Overseas bidders must use First Class Mail International.    You will get an automatic email with the customs/tracking number.      ( Buyers from Italy must assume all risks for shipping to their country. )      I will send your record as soon as you pay ( same day if before 2 PM and next day if after 2 PM : Monday thru Saturday)   I will combine shipping if you win more than one record.      Please wait for me to send you an invoice for all of your records in one package.

Serious Bidders Only :
