Jethro Tull - Stand UP
(Island ILPS 9103 UK LP 1969)
This is an early, circa 1970, UK "Pink Island" LP pressing. It has a heavyweight matt gatefold sleeve. This has a "Pop-Up" Jethro Tull at the centre of the inner gatefold. It comes with its original generic polythene lined company inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has texture pink Island labels. These have the white "i" logo. The record has A2/ B matrix stampers.
Gatefold Sleeve: There is moderate to considerable rubbing wear along the top & bottom edges. There is some light, mild or more moderate foxing on the rear sleeve. There is some mild fading to the spine area. There is light, mild or very mild fading to the "white" of the rear sleeve. There is some light, mild or very mild rubbing wear on the spine edges on some areas. The spine text is legible. The "Pop Up" Jethro Tull on the inner gatefold is in great condition & is in perfect working order. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear. Overall, Very Good minus condition
Vinyl: There are some light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can hardly be seen under a strong light. There is a very small 1 cm surface rub mark on Side 1. This hardly notices. Overall, Very Good++ condition. The labels are in Very Good++ condition & show mild or very mild spindle wear. There is some light, very mild or very minor foxing on some areas. This doesn't notice that much. The company inner sleeve is in Very Good condition. There is a very small tear at the die-cut area on one side. There are no seam splits.
I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Very Good overall & Very Good+ in some places. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in the background to a varying degree. This is obviously more noticeable in the quieter places. It never overpowers the music. There are no noticeable clicks or pops.
This copy would definitely benefit from a professional deep groove clean. Visually, the vinyl is quite nice. Therefore, any crackle is just due to deep down dirt in the grooves. This copy, I believe, would play Excellent & better after a professional clean. As it is, it is a bit of a crackly copy.
