Jethro Tull Aqualung UK first press
The first official release of Aqualung in the UK was on this, the green Chrysalis label with the original ILPS 9145 (P. 1971) catalogue numbers, all lettering in gothic text with or without the white 'i' island logos. The matrix numbers date this from first and second stampers so earliest possible pressing
We have the original, unaltered matrix numbers:
ILPS 9145 A-1U / 2 AG
ILPS 9145 B-3U / 1 LO
thicker: heavier pressing than later issues and no 'A PORKY PRIME CUT' annotation
Fully textured (inside and out) thick gatefold cover by EJ Day with the manufactured and distributed by Island records and Basing St address info on reverse
Square (not tapered) thick paper (not card) inner sleeve with rear flipback 'flaps' with no seam splits or damage at all.
This copy is simply stunning Textured gatefold + gloss paper inner Vinyl looks played lightly with two very light visuals on A side that have no audible effect on a stunning playback grades as EX : B side looks EX+ playback is unbelievable: bright and crisp with strong clear bass. Both labels are EX/EX+ no marks or damage at all Textured EJ Day first issue sleeve has been carefully stored in PVC outer all of its life so again grades as EX+ spine is wonderfully square and crisp as are all edges. Looks almost new. With all important Island records info on reverse.
