-------------------------------------------------------------------
I am selling off my collection of original first pressing vinyl albums to supplement a house move. It's a pity to let them go but the money is needed for essential repairs. I have adopted the Record Collector magazine’s Grading Guide to describe the condition and I have also play-checked each album, so you can be confident about buying. The pictures are also of the actual album you are bidding on.
Overseas bidders are very welcome. (Please see ‘Notes’ below for postage options.)
UK postage for up to 7 disks is just £3.17
Worldwide postage for 1 album is just £6.00
Jesus Christ Superstar, A Rock Opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber & Tim Rice
An Original 1970 UK 1st Pressing Vinyl Double Album on the MCA ‘bow-tie’ record label in gate-fold sleeve complete with original booklet
EXCELLENT Condition (see description and notes below)
Description and Track List
This album can be identified as the 16th October 1970 UK first pressing because it has the catalogue number MKPS 2011/2 (MAPS 2075/6) and the disc labels are of the MCA ‘bow-tie’ design. Later pressings followed with a different label.
Note: First pressings of this album are becoming increasingly scarce and collectible, especially when in excellent condition as this one is.
This album was the starting point of the Jesus Christ Superstar phenomenon and spawned the now world famous theatrical musical stage show and Hollywood film. Featuring a long list of legendary musicians, the album has renowned rock vocalist and Deep Purple frontman Ian Gillan voicing the part of Jesus, platinum selling solo artist Murray Head as Judas Iscariot and the inimitable Yvonne Elliman in the role of Mary Magdalene. Released in 1970, the album achieved huge global fame and went on to sell over 7 million copies worldwide serving as a launching pad for numerous stage productions on Broadway and in the West End.
For those who don’t know much about the album, it’s a rock opera with lyrics from Tim Rice and music composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and is a musical dramatisation of the last week of the life of Jesus Christ - beginning with his entry into Jerusalem and ending with the Crucifixion. Incredibly, it was originally banned by the BBC on grounds of being "sacrilegious!"

Condition (using Record Collector Magazine grading)
I have tried to provide good quality large pictures of the album and sleeves. Please take the time to click through them and satisfy yourself of the quality of this LP. The pictures should speak for themselves.
Vinyl = EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been occasionally played, with the slightest of surface scratches and no discernable lessening in sound quality. I have play-checked the record and it’s a good quality pressing too with very little background noise.
Booklet = VERY GOOD: Just normal wear consistent with age. No major defects, just original retailer’s stamp.
Cover = GOOD+: The cover sleeve is a bit scuffed and discoloured, which is normal wear and tear consistent with age, and has just one short split on the front right-hand edge.
Notes
I take care to package records properly in rigid cardboard, thereby making every effort to ensure they arrive to you in the same condition that they were sent.
UK postage for up to 7 disks is just £3.17. This is by Royal Mail Small Parcel, which is the cheapest option. If you would like another service e.g. signed and/or tracked please ask before paying and I will send you an adjusted eBay invoice. I only ever charge at cost with eBay’s 10% commission on top. I do not charge for packaging.
Worldwide postage for 1 album is just £6.00. This is by Royal Mail International Economy, which comes with £20.00 insurance against loss or damage. The 'Economy' service can take some time for delivery, so I have provided alternative postal rates in the table below for up to 7 albums. The 'Standard' and 'Tracked & Signed' services come with £50.00 insurance against loss or damage and delivery takes between 5-7 working days. If you would prefer an alternative service to economy please let me know which you would prefer and I will send you an adjusted eBay invoice. If you buy more than 1 album please don’t pay immediately. Let me know which postal service you would like (economy, standard, tracked and signed) and I will send you a combined postage invoice. The postage rates below are the cheapest I can provide. I do not charge for packaging. All I charge is the actual postage cost plus eBay’s 10% commission on top.
