The pianist Vince Guaraldi released 'Impressions Of Black Orpheus' in 1962, in response to the film 'Black Orpheus' - the Brazilian film by Marcel Camus. The film had taken the world by storm three years earlier: a contemporary retelling of the Ovidian story of Orfeu and Eurydice, its soundtrack had the unintended effect of introducing the distinct sound of bossa nova to the world. The reinterpretation of the soundtrack by Guaraldi's trio here gets an expansion via Concord, with new unreleased recordings takung up a mammoth, complementary four new sides of vinyl.
