Description
A rare thing this. Janis Joplin - 'Pearl' CBS 64188 with rare mis-prints to first pressing. A1 B1 matrixes. UK copy.
Vinyl is in Excellent- or VG++ condition.
Bright and clean with good CBS ‘Box’ orange labels and clean spindle holes.
Pro Cleaned with a digital ultrasonic cleaner.
Sounds bright and clear with a few fine hairlines noticeable in brighter light.
Faint rumbles and the occasional crackle but overall very good indeed for its age.
Sleeve is VG+ condition with some mild wear/bumping to edges and corners.
Spine is not crushed, but has some mild creases to it. No label scars.
Inner sleeve is white paper BUT with Nagaoka anti static No.102 inner also.
Guided by discogs and other sellers of this album there are a number of misprints that identify this as a rare first pressing. Namely:
The information on the labels and sleeve do not match at several places. E.g.
Side 1
Track 2 credited says Russell/Meade on the label but Ragovoy/Berns on the back cover.
Also on copyright information on Side 1 tracks 1,4,5, are attributed to B. Feldman & Co. Ltd. but on later copies tracks 1 and 5 are attributed to Big Ben Music Ltd: track 3 is attributed to Cop. Con. whereas later copies attribute this track to Burlington M. Ltd. and later copies attribute Track 4 to Carlin Music Corp.
Side 2
Tracks 1 and 5 are Shuman on the label but “Schuman” on the back cover.
Track 2 is Kristofferson on the label but Kristopherson" on the back cover.
Track 3 is J.Joplin/M. McClure on the label but just "Janis Joplin" on the cover.
Also on copyright information to label Side 2 track 3 attributed to B. Feldman & Co. on all later copies this is changed to ‘Big Ben Music’ Ltd.
The Catalogue Number on the labels and deadwax is S 64188, but only 64188 is printed on both the sleeve and spine. This too is altered on later pressings.
