This listing is for a very rare original pressing of the fantastic 5th album by Janet Jackson. This was recorded at the peak of her powers and the new contract with Virgin had made her the highest paid music artist at that time. The title "Janet" was a statement to move her away from the controversy of her brother and showing her desire to be taken seriously as an artist in her own right. The album which is highly underrated is a powerful message about the stigma of female sexuality and the importance of practicing safe sex. In today's feminist revolution a very appropriate album which deserves to be appreciated more.

All of my records are play tested on a Technics SL-1200 with a Grado GF3 stylus which is quite revealing so any sound defects may be more exaggerated than on other more mainstream players. Or conversely if you are a full on audiophile I will let you judge how your set up compares and how you envisage the sound will compare.
I don't currently have access to a cleaning machine so please forgive any dust or finger marks which are on any of my records - hopefully will be investing in one at some point.
Record Appearance - VG+ Sides A,B and C are very close to NM with only the faintest of whisper lines when held under a bright light. Side D has a few more marks, and also which look to be some kind of residue. Labels are quite dull and appear slightly discoloured which I think is due to the material used and looks to be similar in pictures of other examples.
Record Audio - VG There are a few issues with playback which may be improved with a machine clean. The aforementioned Side D has at least one skip during play. There is some surface noise on run in and on quieter moments but this is highly likely to be dust within the grooves as I had to hand clean the surface before play due to it being in storage probably since new. The label on Side B is pressed slightly off centre. There is also a very slight warp/kink but is only noticeable when playing on the outer edge. I have priced with the above in mind, as in NM condition this would be closer to £200.
Record Sleeve - VG+ Really nice sleeve condition overall. Very little shelf wear on the edges and spine apart from a scuff to the top edge. Good structure and legible title on the spine. Front face is really nice with no ring wear or indentations under a bright light. The rear face has some creases and a little ring wear visible under a bright light. Inner gatefold artwork is superb with no marks, damage or discolouration which is unusual for a white background. Records comes in high quality lined inner sleeves which are in great condition. The sleeve doesn't quite sit flush when placed on the table suggesting it has been stored somewhere cold and a little damp. I am just trying to be honest and detailed as I can due to the value of the piece, but again please just ask if you want any more details.
