Jah Earl – ‘Bring The Cushey Come’ / ‘Version Cushey’ – Earthquake (JA)
Great record from the rather obscure Earl Mowatt, better known as Jah Earl. These days an acclaimed guitarist, this is one of only a handful of 45’s he cut in the late 1970’s. Repressed on an Observer Gold ten-inch in the early 2000s, this is the rare Jamaican original with a heavy, heavy version, matrix numbers CBCC 5029 A and CBCC 5030 B, respectively.An interesting article about Jah Earl (with a great photo) appeared in the Jamaican newspaper The Gleaner on August 23, 2011. Well worth investigating!
Condition: VG++ or perhaps a little better (please listen to the clips). On the A-side, the edge of the record is damaged, but it is outside of the grooves and doesn’t affect playing at all. Clean, slightly rough-looking labels (please see scans).

Please note that like many other sellers of reggae on eBay, I’ve been the victim of so called ‘fake bidders’, bad minded people with no intention of purchasing the item they bid on and whose only game seems to be to ruin the auction for buyers and sellers alike. In the event that the record is won by a ‘fake bidder’, to save time, I will sell it to the second highest bidder before attempting to relist it. Obviously, the second highest bid will have been raised, as it were, artificially by the ‘fake bidder’. To the extent that it’s possible (this isn’t always the case), when making a Second Chance offer, I’ll try to lower the selling price to one increment above the third highest bid by way of offering a discount or free shipping (or both).
