Description

Jackson Browne's first album ( SD-5051 ) was not meant to be called "Saturate Before Using".  However, because the packaging (with textured cover and the double-sided "flowing-water" inner-sleeve) was so original and captivating, it became hard for the curious buying public to call it anything else.  As wonderful as the presentation was, the songs were even more striking.  Musically and lyrically Browne showed incredible maturity for a young songwriter. Though his best work was yet to come, all the seeds were planted on this timeless self-titled debut album.

This copy is being offered for all those who have been searching for the ultimate, VERY FIRST 1972 U.S. issue. This has the "top loading", fully and heavily textured cover (simulating a "canvas/water bag") and includes the double-sided,  "flowing water" printed inner-sleeve.  In addition, it is in exceptional condition and certainly one of the finest examples I've ever come across. 

Cover: Near Mint-.....about the best I've ever seen for a first issue textured cover. Colors are rich and unfaded. Only a couple of the corners and the spine (in this case the bottom edge) shows some wear but the text is still easily legible.    

Inner-Sleeve: Near Mint-.....two barely noticeable splits on the sides....but even with this minor flaw it is easily the best example I've ever seen. 

Record: Near Mint+/-.....the heavy vinyl gleams like new and shows only the faintest, barely noticeable hairlines under strong light.  There are one or two areas where some superficial marks can be discerned; but these were no doubt made during the pressing process and have no significant impact on the superb 1st press audio.  You will not find a better example unless it is sealed...and even then; you never know if the record might be warped or damaged in some other way.
