Description
Third Man Records, Records Store Day special 12" liquid filled vinyl release of Jack White - 16 Saltines. Limited Edition. More info about this record below.
PLEASE READ SHIPPING INFO CAREFULLY!
I have included a close up photo of the label in the corner. This label was on every single liquid filled vinyl sold at Third Man Records today. If you see a photo of one without it, someone isn't being straightforward with you.
And, speaking of being straightforward, feel free to scroll down and I will tell you all about how I came upon an extra record of this kind to sell...
I can ship UPSP Flat Rate sandwiched in cardboard, wrapped in bubble for free. I will also include insurance for free.
OR, if, after reading Jack's quirky label, you would so prefer, I'll take it over to PakMail and have them box it up and ship it the absolute best and upright way they know how, or to meet your personal (reasonable) specifications, but that WILL BE AT AN ADDITIONAL COST. Again, insurance will be included for free.
The liquid-filled record ® will ONLY be available from Third Man Records physical location in Nashville (623 7th Ave S) on Record Store Day, April 21st, 2012. Get it before they're gone!*Check back for updated pictures!JACK WHITE “SIXTEEN SALTINES”The 12-inch single of Jack White’s “Sixteen Saltines” comes complete with a playable etching on the b-side (designed by George Ingram), a cover of U2’s “Love is Blindness.” Truly a sight to behold, the etching depicts Third Man’s iconic logo and the grooves of the record play through the image, presenting consumers with the world’s first-ever playable etched record®.This is an entirely different process (and look) from your Styx and Split Enz records from the 80’s. No lasers, holograms, or rainbows are involved in this playable etching. As if that weren’t enough, Third Man took the playable etching one step further and used the same parts to make a limited-edition version of the “Saltines” 12-inch single. Not only is the etching playable, but the record itself is pressed on clear vinyl and filled with psychedelic blue liquid. While the soundtrack for the 1978 film The Black Hole was initially prototyped as a liquid-filled disc, problems with leakage prevented it from ever being released. The liquid-filled “Saltines” is the first-ever disc of its kind to be made available to the public.
So my co-worker and I both really wanted this record. Being on a budget, and this being a rather big budget purchase, we decided to split costs (gas, hotel room, etc.) for the trek to Third Man. The day before, she backed out, saying that she couldn't afford it. Well, I still was dying to have one, as you must be if you are reading along. I didn't feel safe making the drive alone, and with such short notice, my step-brother was the only person willing to go with me, but he wasn't willing to pay half, and he wasn't willing to go for free. He charged me $50.00 for his ride along services. Add in the $90.00 in gas, NO CHARGE for a hotel room because we ended up getting there and getting in line immediately...in the cold, cold night rain, at 11:00pm. It seems everyone was told a few hours early would be a great time to line up, but everyone lined up much, much earlier. We couldn't use a hotel room, so the step-bro ran to the local Wal-Mart and put a tent, and two cheap pillows and blankets ($85.00) on my credit card so that we could literally spend the night on a sheet of tarp set upon ROCKS. Me paying all, rather than halving if with the co-worker as planned, made the trip cost me $137.50 more than I had expected. So, my step-brother bought a copy of the record, too, perhaps feeling pity on my soggy state, and told me that I could sell it to try and recoup my unexpected extra expenses. He's always been a charmer, that boy. That, plus the record cost (from what I can figure from my receipt, about $107.00 with tax) is a grand total of 244.50, which is what I'm hoping to recoup here, to put me back on track with my initial budget. And, maybe, my cold, rainy, night in the tent on the rocks can bring a little Third Man Liquid Vinyl joy to someone who wasn't able to spend their night the same way.
Thanks for reading!!!
