Description

JUTTA HIPP "At The Hickory House, Volume 2" Blue Note 1516, "P", "RVG," DG, Mono Vinyl.

This is the 1956, RVG-etched, Deep-Groove, "P"-pressing of JUTTA HIPP's "At The Hickory House, Volume 2" on the "767 Lexington Ave NYC" labels of  Blue Note BLP 1516. Musicians include Hipp, Peter Ind, Ed Thigpen.

VINYL has 3 feelable scratches, and a handful of hairline marks under direct light. Great tone and body, no distortion; instruments clear. (Audience also clear.) No skips or locked grooves. Consistent pops and ticks of low-level to medium-level volume on both sides. The occasional repeating tick. Track 2 side 2 presents the loudest ticks, which sound briefly. On each side, the noise lessens as the side progresses. The surface imperfections do not detract from the listening enjoyment of this powerfully recorded, engineered and pressed disc. Good gloss. The Deep-Grooved "767 Lexington Ave NYC" labels are very clean with perfect spindle hole and very minimal spindle marks.

COVER is worn. Taped lower right corner. 6" inch taped spine. Top seam clear-taped. Corners worn; cover ink worn away near top seam."767 Lexington Ave., New York 21" back jacket clean, clear, no signs of aging. Top seam tape and spine, masking-tape evident. See photos.

This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
