Chicago funk crew Jimmy Jules & The Nuclear Soul System return with a 2025 reissue of the slack-limbed 'Xmas Done Got Funky', originally issued on Jules' Jim Gem label in 1977; a tiny label boasting but three 7" lapises besides this historic record. Long vanished in the wake of disco's mushroom cloud, the record touts label spearhead and Southern soul server Jules' sly vocals, Jackie Spencer's powerhouse delivery, and the band's tight, horn-hammed grooves. 'The New Year' and 'The Macaroni Man' mix holiday kitsch with deep funk punch, while 'Time's Moving On' and 'Too Many Horses' stretch the rhythm section over playful, dancefloor-ready rubs.
