1ST UK PRESS CAT NO. VO 2 847 901 VTY-SWIRL VERTIGO LABEL!!!!

STUNNING TOP AUDIO ON OUR SYSTEM AND AWESOME ORIGINAL PRESS GATEFOLD COVER!!!! TOP! TOP!  AUDIO THROUGHOUT!!!

COMPLETE WITH INNER SWIRL SLEEVE  !!!!!

 Another CLASSIC LP OF-VERTIGO WAX!

This has been kept in a case with the vinyl seperated from the cover to prevent ringware for the past 30 years or more! This is very very sought after original press! Very Very rarely seen with #1 and #2! This being absolutely awesome top audio throughout crystal clear and very vibrant throughout can not be surpassed in any other format in our  opinion! (normally seen played to death with nasty distortion clicks and pops) (no) loud clicks or pops and certainly (no) skips or jumps just the lightest static crackle during quiet track only! This is very very collectable indeed!

JUICY LUCY

Juicy Lucy are a blues-rock band formed in 1969. After the demise of garage band The Misunderstood, vocalist Ray Owen, steel guitarist Glenn Ross Campbell and saxophone player Chris Mercer formed Juicy Lucy. The group later recruited guitarist Neil Hubbard, bassist Keith Ellis, and drummer Pete Dobson

The band immediately notched a UK Top 20 hit with their cover version of the Bo Diddley perennial "Who Do You Love?"

Their self-titled debut album then fell just shy of the Top 40 in the UK Albums Chart. The album's cover featured a burlesque dancer named Zelda Plum, naked except for a covering of fruit.

Line-up changes were quickly afoot as ex-Zoot Money singer Paul Williams, guitarist Micky Moody and drummer Rod Coombes; replaced Owen (who exited for a solo career), Hubbard and Dobson; for 1970's Lie Back and Enjoy It (#53 - UK Albums Chart), with another bassist Jim Leverton assuming Ellis' duties for the follow-up, 1971's Get a Whiff a This.

The constant turnover clearly took its toll on the group both creatively and commercially, with co-founders Campbell and Mercer both exiting prior to the fourth Juicy Lucy album, 1972's Pieces. This was recorded by a makeshift line-up of Williams, Moody, keyboardist Jean Roussel and the former Blodwyn Pig rhythm section of bassist Andy Pyle and drummer Ron Berg. Juicy Lucy disbanded shortly thereafter.

Micky Moody (born 30 August 1950, in Middlesbrough), later joined the inaugural Whitesnake line-up in 1978. Before then he was a member of another rock outfit Snafu between 1973 and 1976. Moody also released the bluesy solo album I Eat Them For Breakfast in 2001. Plus, Juicy Lucy's version of the song "Who Do You Love?" was featured in Shellshock: Nam '67.

Founder member Ray Owen revived the name in 1995 for the albums Blue Thunder and Here She Comes Again which found Mike Jarvis (guitar), Andy Doughty (bass), and Spencer Blackledge (drums) rounding out the band.A couple of years later this version of the band broke up but Owen wanted to keep on going, especially when he formed a musical partnership with a guitarist known as Mr. Fish. Legal problems kept the new band from using the Juicy Lucy name, so they gigged as Ray Owen's Moon (Moon being the title of Ray Owen's 1971 solo album).

By 2004 bassist Fudge and drummer Fletch had joined the band and the legal issue was settled. The new Juicy Lucy spent 2006 working on a new album (subsequently titled Do That And You'll Lose It), and touring the UK with fellow rock veterans Nazareth.

They played the Cambridge Rock Festival (2007) and are managing to build a formidable live reputation. The link with the past though is not forgotten, and the modern day Juicy Lucy still plays "Mississippi Woman", "Who Do You Love?" and more from their first album.

"Juicy Lucy "is the debut studio album by British blues rock band Juicy Lucy, released in 1969! Unbelievably 40 years ago!.

The original UK release was as a gatefold sleeve, with an INNER SWIRL SLEEVE in the middle.

The labels.

The original labels  features the swirl on side a. and the swirl logo and track listings on side b.(only early press)!!!!! All rights.... are featured around the label rim(only early press)!!!!!!!  Spidering can only be seen angled to the light and hardly any spindle ware (The hole is perfectly round) that this has been played but certainly not overplayed at all !!!!!

The vinyl.

Original heavy thicker and deeper grooved type of vinyl only seen on these very early pressings!!!!!!! Very soon were changed to flimsier and less robust type of vinyls!!!!!!

The vinyl is absolutely superb on initial visual inspection this looks superb and still retains its sheen from new!!!!!!

The Audio Quality

This vinyl as played and listened to very carefully track for track at least four times prior to listing and as played at very loud volume!  We have tried to accurately give an honest acount on the audio quality as heard! The first thing that hits you when the needle is put on the vinyl is the absolute clarity and vibrancy real raunchy deep bassy feel on this pressing, Truly stunning audio! Important to note that there are no loud clicks or pops at all!

(Please note this vinyl has (not) been over played !!!!(This audio sounds truly awesome throughout)  there no signs of grooveware or distortion during the audio play of this vinyl!!!!  Have played this through track for track and the audio quality is superb- crystal clear & extremely vibrant!!!! (In strong light only, any marks that could possibly be seen would be light wispy sleeve removal and we mean the lightest of marks\scuffs\scratches (no) audio sounding marks or needle scratches that would produce any loud clicks or pops. The audio on this pressing in our opinion is almost as good as it gets for the most part for a very 1st pressing!!!!!Even in between tracks and quiet places there is extremely minimal noise, no surface noise just the very light static crackle intermitantly only on quiet places.!!! Please note! It is easy to be critical about these 70s pressings! Please allow for very light static crackle\tick during quiet places! There were some static crackle\ticks evident during the very quiet track 'FX'  (which is fortunately only 90 seconds long) but as soon as the audio kicked in during the next track it was truly awesome and exceptional!   !!!!! In our opinion  this almost plays perfect on our system apart from this!!!This is one of the best audio that we have heard of this pressing!!!!! We would class ourseleves as highly critical and this is a truly exceptional sounding vinyl and the 1st pressing by this awesome band ''JUICY LUCY''!!!Audio is graded as Excellent to excellent plus very near perfect for the most part on our system!!!!!

Please note! That we always make this disclaimer! That although we never heard any clicks or pops during the play of this record please allow for the odd light static tick\crackle here and there certainly not consistent throughout the audio, This has been played and  this is a genuine 40 year old vinyl that would have been played on a 40 year old system!!!!Important note! This has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 30 years, a build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static \crackle\ticks! A constant clean before each play is recomended! This will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality!

The cover.

This is the original gatefold (non) laminated (card type) 1st press cover with ZELDA PLUM on the inlay of the cover courtesy of MRS. MOUSE.This cover is superb with no splits or tears, Very light general storageware\  light rubbing at the edges noticable if scrutinised -being primarily black in colour these are virtually impossible to keep as new (see photos) Remember this is 40 years old and original! Lovely square corners, very minimal creases worth mentioning at all!!!UNBELEIVABLE CONDITION!!!!!  The spine is lovely and square and has some slight rubbing and the writing is fully legible rarely ever seen like this!!!! The INNER SLEEVE is in as new condition full intact and well secured!!!!!! THIS MUST BE AT LEAST EXCELLENT!!!!!!

The record sleeve

This is the original vertigo swirl inner sleeve  virtually no staining \fading with age or splits ! Please note the vinyl is now stored seperately from the sleeve!! This is how we have always stored our records!!!!!!!
