J R MONTEROSE In Action. 1964 Mega RARE Private Jazz Grail!
J.R. Monterose In Action, plus the Joe Abodeely Trio, Studio 4 SS 100, original 1964 Columbia custom pressing from Rock Island, Illinois (not the V.S.O.P. reissue). With Monterose (tenor sax), Dale Oehler (p), Gary Allen (b), & Joe Abodeely (d).
A Couple of fun facts about this gem:
1. Only 250 copies were pressed and sold only at the cloakroom of Joe Abodeely's "The Tender Trap" jazz nite-club from Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
2. Album was never sold in any store or via mail-order.
3. It is unknown how many copies were sold at "The Tender Trap" night club and how many remained unsold but it is estimated that only a handful of playable copies are still in existence and in collectible condition.
...but if you're reading this, you probably know how rare it is.
Record Condition:
VG/VG+
-Vinyl is glossy with 2 light scratches on side 1 that don't affect play. Minor sleeve scuffs and light marks that don't affect play on side 2.
-Labels are bright and clean with no marks or tears.
Sleeve Condition:
G+ (See Pictures)
-2 rounded corners
-Unglued bottom seam
-Some sticker and tape residue on front
-2 tears on back cover
