RELISTED DUE TO WINNING BIDDER NOT IN UK price of tapes is what bidding went up to
Back in 79 when I first got into JD , they was hardly known , few write ups in music papers , no internet then , so we had to sneak recorders into gigs etc , anyway we all started selling and swapping these tapes , some rough hidden recorder recordings , some lads where in with roadies and managed to get mixing board recordings , so both types of recordings are here from crap to totally excellent , so us few JD fans became pen pals , buying or swapping with etc other , all from those free ads in NME and others
Anyway heres my collection , theres even some NEW ORDER SOUNDCHECKS , GIGS as we used to try fill these tapes with extra stuff , say I ordered JD preston gig , short gig , so would fill tape with another gig or NO gig , interview anything really , I had a tape to tape recorder obviously , so would bounce one of the gigs to another tape , so I could have it on own tape , so lots of these tapes will contain a few gigs , and one copied again to another
I personally love the Hemel Hempstead Soundcheck , fantastic version of New Dawn Fades , plus cute version of early LWTUA before they got their own poly synth the ARP Omni 2 , they are using Steves Woolworths Bontempi organ lol , dont know why they didnt use there mono T2000 synth ? As you will know they used this Bontempi organ when they recorded Chance (Atmosphere ) for piccadilly Radio session
I know you can get all these tapes on line and vinyl now , but ive noticed eg Preston gig , my tape here has more of the inbetween chat etc , like where the Bass amp breaks down , noticed this alot , like Ian says over the Mic ,,,, can you throw me another mic Holder please ,, and you hear it bounce along the stage lol
Anyway these tapes are old , boxes and sleeves are dull , weathered etc , but all tapes are good quality ones TDK etc , and still play perfect , NO CHEWED UP ONES
