Description
For sale is an exceptionally rare, authentic 1980 UK original first pressing (Variant 2/3) of Joy Division’s masterpiece single, Atmosphere / She’s Lost Control (Factory Records, FACUS 2).
This highly collectible copy features the definitive "double dip" center label ridge profile and the hand-etched MVSS1 dead wax signature, verifying it as an elite MVS Record Pressing Ltd. run.
Mastered by George Peckham, both sides feature his signature "A PORKY PRIME CUT" hand etched stamps and iconic run-out messages: "HERE ARE THE YOUNG MEN" and "BUT WHERE HAVE THEY BEEN".
The stunning "Northern Gothic" sleeve layout pairs Charlie Meecham’s stark winter landscape photography with Peter Saville's legendary art direction.
For audiophiles, this original 1980 Porky cut is the absolute sonic pinnacle of the release, delivering an immense, wide analog soundstage directly from early-generation tapes that modern digital remasters simply cannot match.
Condition Profile:
Vinyl (V-VG): Excellent factory luster. Displays cosmetic surface scratches, sleeve hairlines, and light needle marks under direct light, but no deep, feelable gouges or scratching that would warrant skipping.
Center Labels: Clean and beautifully preserved with perfectly defined "double-dip" ridges.
Outer Sleeve (V-VG): Authentic original standard single sleeve (non-gatefold) with the "UK" print credit. Shows honest vintage shelf wear, edge creasing, and corner softening with yellowing consistent with it's vintage age and browning/foxing along the borders. Edges and seams are intact.
Inner Sleeve Note: Housed in a plain paper vintage replacement sleeve; the original factory inner sleeve is not included.
