It's Time For... is the sixth album from Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers, recorded in 1985 and released in 1986. Produced by Andy Paley, the album sits in the same understated, melody-forward territory Richman had carved out through the late 70s and early 80s — direct, unhurried, and entirely his own.
Tracks like "Corner Store," "Neon Sign," and "When I Dance" capture the warmth and simplicity that defines his post-punk era work. The band includes Asa Brebner and Andy Paley on guitar, Michael Guardabascio on drums, and Ned Claflin on accordion, with a full complement of backing vocalists.
This is the original US first pressing on Upside Records (UP 60001-1), licensed from Rough Trade Ltd. No vinyl reissue of this album has ever been released — this Upside pressing is the only vinyl edition in existence. Long out of print and increasingly difficult to find in this condition.
Lacquers cut at Sterling Sound, New York, on both sides. Sterling Sound has operated since 1968 and remains one of the most respected mastering facilities in recorded music history, with credits spanning Led Zeppelin, Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, and thousands of others across every genre.
Pressed at Hauppauge Record Manufacturing Ltd., Hauppauge, NY (Long Island). The Hauppauge arrow identifier (ᐉ) is present in the deadwax on both sides.
