Up for bids is an extremely rare 1962 four song acetate from the famed 60's actress & sex symbol. For folks approaching this auction from the film end of things, acetates are essentially test pressings of records later mass produced for commercial release, kind of an 'artist's proof' if you will. I see mention on the web that this actress may have cut an album with arranger Jimmie Haskell in the mid 60's but I can find no evidence of this and none of my pop vocal collector/dealer buddies are aware of its existence (please do email me if you know otherwise and I will update the listing). So, this is either a short acetate of material from this LP, or, and this would be the jackpot scenario, unreleased Joi Lansing vocal material. I doubt very much it's a test pressing for songs later used in her Scopitones as I've found none of these titles on Youtube. Anyway you cut it, this is exceedingly rare. I've been selling records full time for a decade plus now and in the vinyl world, few items are more sought-after than acetates of rare LPs. These are generally one-of-a-kind objects -- it's a very rare event when multiples turn up. Songs are "Feel So Young", "Dream", "Masquerade" & "All of You". This will probably be of interest to fans of the Jayne Mansfield, Mamie Van Doren, etc Hollywood starlets scene and/or the female vocal & vintage exotica/cheesecake crowd. For anyone interested, this is almost certainly your only chance to own this cool artifact.

COND: Cover: Plain black (no cover was ever issued). disc: G (scuffs & scratches, plays with some pops & clicks & moderate noise). My grading system: NM/EX/VG+/VG/G. S/H: $4 in U.S. $14-15 overseas.
I wish I could tell fans more about where this came from. I bought this on a lark at the S.F. record fair. It was from a British dealer (who may be based out of L.A). I'm so sorry but I have no idea how he acquired it!
This is a set of four sultry lounge jazz numbers and they're all quite good. Piano backing on two and piano, drums, bass on the other two (these have a Latin flavor). The condition is visually below average (a "G" on the typical vinyl scale) and plays G minus with a couple dull pops & clicks here & there and some pressing issues. The sound drops out a little here & there, especially on the last track where it really drops out (very low fidelity). This is directly due to the Que Recorders pressing, not the handling of the disc. I'll add some MP3s below.
