Description
For auction is JOHNNY HARTMAN's "The Voice That Is!" on Impulse A-74, MONO, 1964. White Promo Label.
SOUND: G+
It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. Overall, the playback is not bad, with some surface noise and ticks audible, especially in softer passages. The 2nd tune on side A, "A Slow Hot Wind," has a skip (not a repeat), as well as systematic ticks for a minute or more. Because of the skip, I rated the record G+. However, if you're willing to ignore that, the playback is pretty good overall!
VINYL: G+
Again, my grade is due to a feel-able scratch in A2. Otherwise, routine scuffs and other marks, nothing too bad. The record is on white promo labels. The labels have some ring-wear (size of a 45-RPM adapter).
COVER: VG+
The gatefold cover is nice! Edges are solid except for 1-inch bottom split. Corners have slight wear. The front cover has a "demo" stamp and a couple small stains. The back is pretty clean with a touch of ink and a smudge. The inside gatefold is very nice! It's clean and unmarked.
The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.
In VG+ shape, this record would be fairly valuable. The skip restricts the grading. Beyond that, its a decent listen! No reserve, bidding starts at $10.
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material. Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
