Note: Not scratched, but Side 2 is "cloudy" and has surface noise throughout, a common issue with this pressing.

Zorn's best-known game piece is undoubtedly "Cobra," whose rules (involving a complicated set of hand signals that players can use to indicate who should play what when) have been incorporated into many improvisers' vocabularies for the sake of convenience. Written for (roughly) twelve players and a prompter, it's a hell of a lot of fun to play and to watch (headbands! gesticulations! dirty looks!); without the visual side and an easy indication of who's playing what when, it can be dry and confusing to hear. Despite delightful and ornate packaging, the 1987 Cobra pretty much falls into the latter camp. It's got two recordings, one studio (with a lineup of Staley, Marclay, guitarists Bill Frisell, Elliott Sharp and Arto Lindsay, Coleman, Horvitz and David Weinstein all playing keyboards of various types, harpists Carol Emanuel and Zeena Parkins, Bob James manipulating tapes, percussionist Bobby Previte and accordionist Guy Kluscevek) and one live (with Frisell, Sharp, Coleman, Horvitz, Weinstein, Kluscevek, James, Marclay and Previte, plus J.A. Deane playing trombone synthesizer). -Trouser Press

• All domestic packages are tracked. Ask us if you would like the tracking number.
• We'll combine shipping costs on multiple wins (or store purchases) to save money for the buyer.
• The automatically generated invoice provided by eBay for multiple items doesn't understand combined shipping (it just adds the individual costs together), but we'll issue a proper invoice with the reduced shipping within 16 hours.
• We are professionals and pack with extreme care: you can trust us. However, we know some customers may have specific requirements for how their items are to be packed. Please confirm any such packing requests with us before bidding to be sure we can accomodate you. Different packing materials have different weights, so if for example you want a box for an item we might normally ship in a bubble mailer, the shipping cost will probably change.

• Massachusetts residents must pay sales tax because we are a Massachusetts business.
• Import duties, taxes, and charges on international orders are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying.
• We accept PayPal and credit cards by phone (Visa, Mastercard and Discover only).
• We're sorry, but we cannot accept personal checks as payment.
• Winners, please contact us within four days. If we do not receive payment from you within two weeks, we reserve the right to cancel the transaction and report you as a non-paying bidder.

• Due to the mail theft epidemic in the Italian post office system, we no longer normally ship to addresses in Italy. Exceptions can be made for buyers willing to pay for Priority Mail, which is safer but much more expensive than First Class. Priority Mail can also be tracked. Please contact us if you are interested and we will provide a shipping quote.

Looking for more? In addition to our weekly auctions, we maintain a fixed-price inventory in our eBay store and on Amazon (under the name Planet Records). We also have a completely seperate inventory in the actual store (we're a real record store); you're welcome to call us if you're looking for something. Ebay disallows external links, but you can find our website easily with a quick search for “Planet Records” on your preferred search engine.
