Description

Mega Rare Original 1968 Decca Records UK TRUE Stereo 1st Pressing (Blue Unboxed Decca Labels!) 'Blues From Laurel Canyon' by John Mayall!!! In Absolutely BREATHTAKING Mint Visual & Aural Condition!!! Stunning 1st Press IW//IW Thick & Chunky Vinyl!!! Complete with Stunning Near Mint 1st Press thickly laminated Robert Stace Gatefold Sleeve!!! This is from an Astounding Mint Stones/Mayall Decca Collection that has been Archived from New and is Absolutely Pristine!!! Very, Very Rare as a True UK Stereo 1st Pressing and Impossible to Find in Mint Condition Throughout!!! Stunning!!!!!!!!!

Aside from the totally flawless condition throughout, there are a number of features that make this particular record very, very rare. Firstly it is the EARLIEST 1968 UK Unboxed Decca Stereo 1st Pressing on the Blue/Silver unboxed and grooved 'Full Frequency Range Recording - ffrr' Decca Stereo labels. Matrix numbers are Side 1 - ZAL-8532-1W. Side 2 - ZAL-8533-1W. Secondly it is complete with the very rare Earliest 1st Issue Robert Stace thickly laminated sleeve with the original die-cut mono/stereo eye hole. Again, this is stone cold mint throughout, it is 'box fresh'!

The bottom line is that this record and sleeve are in STUNNING condition throughout!!! You will not find a better example of this rare record! This record goes beyond the grading of Near Mint, and I have no hesitation to do something I rarely do and give this one a full mint grading. Please check my feedback to see that I am spot on with my grading. Like all 1st press John Mayall LP's, when this album turns up today it almost always has been trashed; in terrible condition with lots of marks & scratches etc. This one IS NOT!!! As it is such a very special record in this kind of condition the bidding will be high, but trust me when I say this is one record well worth pushing the boat out for, you will never see another copy in this condition. A very serious record indeed and essential for any Near Mint John Mayall/ Blues UK 1st press collection... Please see below for a detailed overall description... You will not find a better 1st press example of this classic, classic record!!! A truly breathtaking 1st press example of this rare album, it is the best I have ever seen -  don't miss it!!!

Cat No:

SKL. 4972

1st Press Matrix:

Side 1 - ZAL-8532-IW

Side 2 -  ZAL-8533-IW

This vinyl is in stunning immaculate condition!!! The Classic 1st press Blue/Silver stereo unboxed Decca centre labels are in pristine Near Mint condition with NO Tears, NO Peeling, NO Grubbyness, NO Scribbles and NO unwanted writing of any kind!!! I can just make out one or two short wisps of spindle alignment lines and that's it! This record has clearly only ever seen a turntable once or twice at best.  Play grading was done on very lightly on a high grade Mitchell turntable so, to all intents and purposes, it doesn't really count as an additional play. The gramophone rims containing the all-important 1st press Matrix are also obviously Mint!!!

As described above - the thick & chunky 1st press vinyl itself is in Stunning Nr Mint condition!!! There are NO Hairlines, NO Scratches, NO Groovewear, NO warping, in fact - NO blemishes at all!!! I have to keep reminding myself that I am describing a 40 year old record here, not one made last week!!! I can say nothing else about this chunky 1st press record - it's absolutely perfect and Near Mint!!! If I am overly fussy there is just a wisp of a paperline on side 2, however it is invisible and does nothing to distract from the fact that this is a museum quality peice. These Stereo 1W//1W 1st pressings were straight from the masters and nothing even gets close to them today, especially when you find one in this kind of pristine audio condition! They play with a very loud punchy but also deep clear warm chiming clarity and have to be heard to be believed! This is the best pressing you will hear and is far, far superior to the more common later boxed repressings and much more common late 1970's and early 1980's repressings.  Absolutely beautiful!!! The thick quality pressed chunky 1960's vinyl looks and feels great (it is very heavy!).

The classic 1st press thickly laminated Robert Stace sleeve is also in amazing pristine condition!!! The only way I can think to describe it is as 'Box-fresh' This sleeve is in stone-cold mint condition with perfectly preserved laminate, NO Tears, NO Stains, NO Scribbles and NO unwanted writing of any kind - It is completely blemish free!!! The laminate retains all its beautiful glossy sheen and NO cracking and NO Lifting anywhere!!! The spine is MINT with perfectly legible spine text and a beautiful unbroken laminate sheen!!! The spine has NONE of the common laminate cracking!!! The thick laminate is crystal clear and absolutely flawless, in fact is it so pristine it almost is looks 'wet' in appearance (see images below)! I have never seen laminate this good on this sleeve before. The corners are super-sharp and the edges are completely free from wear!! I can say with a certain degree of confidence that this is without doubt that this is the best example of this sleeve you will ever see. It easily grades as stone-cold Mint condition!!

Please check out hazey_jane_records' feedback and bid with confidence as this is a no reserve auction with a very low starting price!  UK 1st press copies of this record in such stunning condition are in very high demand today. If you have never heard it, you will not find another copy that looks or plays more pristinely than this- it will blow you away!!! If you are a collector/investor, the price of this record will just rise and rise. An absolutely essential (and very rare) record to own.

We always combine postage so if you win more than 1 auction you save money on postage costs! We will only ship to non-UK countries via Airmail - we do not use surface mail, it is way too slow and thus increases the risk of records being damaged during transit.

A little note about insurance - Please read carefully... If the value of your record(s) is over £30, your invoice will include an insured option. Being the responsible adults you are, it is entirely up to you to take this up  - we strongly advise you to do this but will not hassle you about it. You either add the required insurance or you don't. If you do add the required insurance and your record is lost/damaged, you will get a refund. Refunds & Feedback ... Please read this carefully ... We try to give you the best quality examples of rare records available. However, there will always be somebody out there whose expectations far exceed UK record collector grading standards.  If you are in anyway unsatisfied with your record or our grading of it please refer to the UK Record Collector Grading Chart very carefully BEFORE emailing us. We strictly adhere to it and will only offer refunds (minus the postage AND our eBay costs) if we are satisfied that we have fallen below UK record collector grading standards. This will very rarely, if ever, happen. We will not be impressed with buyers disputing our gradings without even bothering to check the UK record collector grading standards chart first - you have been warned ...

We will always leave feedback upon receipt of feedback. In an ideal world we would like to leave feedback as soon as the record has been shipped but due to feedback blackmail in the past (i,e, ",,,I want a partial refund or I will leave negative feedback") we have opted to take this measure. Contact must be made within 3 days of winning the auction. If payment has not been received after 10 days a non paying bidder alert will be placed. If payment is then not received within 7 days Negative feedback WILL be left and the buyer WILL be given a strike by eBay. Thanks for reading.
