Description

Mega Rare Original 1969 UK TRUE ***Nr Mint*** Unboxed Decca Stereo 1st Pressing 'Bluesbreakers' by The John Mayall with Eric Clapton!!! Pristine Unblemished Nr Mint 1st Press Thick & Chunky Vinyl!!! Complete with 1st Press Laminated MacNeill Sleeve w/ Mono/Stereo Eye Hole and Pleated Spine & Original Ex++ 'Blue Bordered' Stereo Inner Sleeve!!! Very, Very Rare as a True UK Unboxed Stereo 1st Pressing and Almost impossible to Find in this Kind of Condition!!!

Here is another gem from my own mostly Nr Mint personal collection (which I am selling off gradually to lessen the pain...) I have been collecting very rare vinyl for a long time now. As a collector, I have been very critical about the condition of the records I have chosen to buy over the years, and only selected the most pristine 1st pressings from all over the UK.  My collection is therefore filled with not only the rarest UK 1st pressings, but also records of the highest grade quality condition, some of the best you will probably ever come across. Sadly, all will be finding new homes in the near future. As I said, I am very strict with my grading, so when I describe a record as Nr Mint - you can rest assured that it will be a true Nr Mint record (I never grade any records as Mint because Mint does not exist in the world of vintage vinyl - in my opinion, as soon as the record has been taken home from the store it is no longer Mint!!) I hope you enjoy my listings.

You are bidding on a STUNNING Nr Mint UK un-boxed Decca 1969 1st Stereo 1st Pressing of this all time classic LP by John Mayall & Eric Clapton!!! This is the true UK 1st Stereo pressing and will probably be your only chance to own this record in this kind of condition throughout!!! The unboxed Stereo 1st press is widely regarded as the rarest pressing of this classic album in existence. The story behind this mega rare LP is as follows: it was originally released on Mono only in 1966 and was pressed continuously through to 1969 (like many records from this period, it is a common misconception that the 'Mono is the rarest'). When Mono was being phased out in 1969, Decca decided to release it on Stereo for the first time (late 1969) and subsequently only a handful (and I mean 'only a handful') were initially pressed with blue Unboxed Stereo labels. However this run was stopped almost as soon as it had begun due to the changeover to the more common 'boxed' Decca stereo labels. As a result of this it is near impossible to find any stereo pressings of this album left on un-boxed labels. And I would hazard an educated guess that this is one of only a handful of 'Near Mint' unboxed Stereo pressings left in existence today!

Further, it is complete with the true 'very earliest' 1st issue laminated Stereo sleeve. This differs from all later laminated sleeves in that it has the original Mono/Stereo eye hole cut in the reverse. This was designed to be used wit the original red/blue bordered inner sleeves to distinguish pressings. Please see my images below for a close up of this. Only the very first pressings had this!!! The Mono/Stereo eye hole feature for this album was only introduced by Decca in late 1968/ early 1969 (long before this LP had its Stereo release). As this was pressed in late 1969, only the earliest 1st pressings came with this eye-hole sleeve before all Mono's were ended forever along with the eye hole sleeve! This is why virtually every other Stereo copy of this record you will ever see will have boxed Decca labels and no eye-hole sleeve.

It is also important to note that this record is fully complete with its TRUE UK 1st press 'blue bordered Stereo' inner sleeve, again, in absolutely breathtaking condition with NO seam wear/splits or scribbles etc!!! This record and sleeve are in STUNNING condition throughout!!! You will not find a better example of this rare record!!! When this album turns up today it almost always has been trashed; in terrible condition with lots of marks & scratches etc. This one IS NOT!!! Aside from being the true UK 1st pressing, what makes this one SO rare is its STUNNING condition!!! This thick & chunky vinyl has the most beautiful shop-fresh, deep glass-like shine, it really looks as if this record could have been pressed yesterday - it is that good!!! There are no visible marks to the playing surfaces whatsoever!! You will not find a better 1st press example of this blues Classic!!! A truly breathtaking 1st press example of a very rare album, it is the best I have ever seen -  don't miss it!!!

1st Press Matrix:

Side 1 - ZAL- 7297. P-1W

Side 2 -  ZAL- 7298. P-1W

This record is in pristine condition!!! The Classic 1st press Blue/Silver unboxed Decca centre labels are in stunning condition with NO Tears, NO Peeling, NO Grubbyness, NO Scribbles and NO unwanted writing of any kind!!! There are just some very light spindle lines. The gramophone rims containing the all important 1st press matrix's are MINT-!!! The disc looks like it came off the master press this morning!!! Impossible for a 1969 UK Decca 1st pressing!!! It has all the deep shine a newly pressed record that as only ever been played once before!!!  The record still retains ALL its original deep glass-like gloss and shine and has NO dulling and NO nasty greying of the grooves!!!  At this point I have to mention how good this baby plays! Not only does it have NO jumps, NO skips and NO nasty loud pops etc; it plays with NO hissing and NO crackling - not even between tracks!!! It is the best playing copy I have ever heard bar none! It plays absolutely mint!!! Not only does it look Near Mint - it play grades as Near Mint! (I never use the grade Mint - as it doesn't exist unless you walk out of the pressing plant with the record!) Impossible for this rare record!!!  A truly stunning record!!! I have no hesitation whatsoever with grading this vinyl visually as a straight Nr Mint!!!  This record is THAT good!!! In fact a poorer Ex/Ex- copy of this same record was recently sold on eBay for GBP £205 ...and this copy is much better condition.  Please rest assured that my grading is 100% accurate!! Its as simple as that!!! This record is suitable for the highest grade psych collection - you will not find a better example!!)

The classic 1st press thickly laminated MacNeill laminated sleeve is also in tremendous condition!!! These 1st press sleeves always turn up totally worn out-looking nowadays with severe damage. Suffice to say, they have not remained in prime condition over the years. THIS SLEEVE IS DIFFERENT!! It is in superb condition with NO Tears, NO Stains, NO Scribbles and NO unwanted writing of any kind - It is completely blemish free!!! The thick laminate is in beautifully preserved condition, it is crystal clear with no dulling/yellowing and has a beautiful glossy sheen and NO cracking and NO Lifting anywhere!!! There are just one or two  light oxbow type laminate creases. The 1st issue pleated spine has NONE of the common laminate cracking and has perfectly legible spine text!!! This sleeve easily grades at least Excellent at the very least (most would grade it much higher!!!)  Comes complete with its ORIGINAL 'blue bordered' poly-lined Inner sleeve, which is in STUNNING Mint- condition!!! The inner is perfect with NO discolouration and NO writing/scribbles!!! Importantly, it has no seam wear or splitting as is common with these original fragile inner sleeves. It is very rare to find these original inner sleeves in this condition anymore and to further protect this one during shipping, it will safely be tucked away, empty, inside the outer jacket. The actual disc will come to you housed in a replacement poly lined inner sleeve and will be housed outside the jacket. This will protect the rare original inner sleeve from 'knifing' to the seams from the record during transit  (see my packing information below for more details).

This really is a one off chance to own a superb example of this the scarce UK Press of this rare and classic LP. Don't miss this one as copies like this only come around very rarely, and never show up in this condition anymore!!! Check out our feedback and bid with confidence as this is a no reserve auction with a very low starting price!

Refunds & Feedback ... Please read this carefully ... We try to give you the best quality examples of rare records available. However, there will always be somebody out there whose expectations far exceed UK record collector grading standards.  If you are in anyway unsatisfied with your record or our grading of it please refer to the UK Record Collector Grading Chart very carefully BEFORE emailing us. We strictly adhere to it and will only offer refunds (minus the postage AND our eBay costs) if we are satisfied that we have fallen below UK record collector grading standards. This will very rarely, if ever, happen. We will not be impressed with buyers disputing our gradings without even bothering to check the UK record collector grading standards chart first - you have been warned ...

Buyers who continually Haggle, Whine and Moan to try to decrease the price they won their auctions for will be blocked from bidding on future auctions and can toodle off down to HMV or Virgin where they can harass the counter staff there.

We will always leave feedback upon receipt of feedback. In an ideal world we would like to leave feedback as soon as the record has been shipped but due to feedback blackmail in the past (i,e, ",,,I want a partial refund or I will leave negative feedback") we have opted to take this measure. Contact must be made within 3 days of winning the auction. If payment has not been received after 10 days a non paying bidder alert will be placed. If payment is then not received within 7 days Negative feedback WILL be left and the buyer WILL be given a strike by eBay. Thanks for reading.
