Anyone who has ever studied the Beatles knows that John Lennon was the true rocker of the group. While all four members of the band loved early rock & roll; it was Lennon who continually referred to it throughout his career. Featuring an array of original recordings by many of Lennon's early influences, and tears it up in the process. While many music fans will be familiar with tracks by Little Richard and Chuck Berry, fewer will have rarely heard songs by Rose Hamlin Phil and Ronnie Spector. There are a whopping 15 cuts here and each of them is a winner. The sound quality is quite good and Lennon himself would have been hard-pressed to put together a better collection of his own early inspirations.

Now changing to the back cover and then the label side two, Song title on back of cover reads____Bony Moronie while on the label the song title reads_______Boney Maroney. Another thing of interest is the dead-wax/trailoff area has the 'Bell Sound' & 'Joe' etching. Which leads me to believe that this is the original withdrawn vinyl record that was controversial and pulled due to infringement.
Although the cover maybe a boot. I believe that Phil Spector may have produced this press so I think this record itself may be the real deal?? Also they're are tunes on this one that are not on the John Lennon Rock & Roll album that was the commercial release also produced by Phil Spector. During these recording sessions Spector was to have pulled his pistol/gun out on John Lennon. This maybe hearsay but that is what I heard. Goldmine list this rare pressing at $5,000 NM. The reserve is way way less of course. I am just not sure if this is a 100% boot?? Even if it is a boot its really a cool collectible to own. Thanks and Good Luck!! Howlin'
