THIS IS THE ORIGINAL, AUTHENTIC, THIS IS NOT A REISSUE, AN IMPORT, OR A COUNTERFEIT PRESSING ,ORIGINAL U.S.A PRESSING 1975 .
This is an extremely rare album. 2,444 Copies of this LP were originally pressed but only 1,270 were purchased before Capital was sued and forced to remove all copies of the Adam VIII album from the market, Not only does Roots feature substantially different, and much rawer, mixes of the Rock 'n' Roll material, it also includes two songs omitted from the Capitol set -- a tremendous version of "Be My Baby" and a shimmering "Angel Baby."
1- This is one of the original 1,270 pressed copies - fake versions have the word "Greatest" along the spine instead of "Great". The Spine on originals reads "John Lennon Sings the Great Rock & Roll Hits". Here is a close up photo of the spine; you can clearly see that this is an original copy:
2- Fake versions also have blurred advertisements on the back as well as a blurred Adam VIII LTD Logo on the upper right hand corner of the album. See the high resolution photos below for further verification that this auction is for the real deal.You can clearly see that the Logo is not blurred.
3- Original covers are manufactured with white poster board
4- On the cover,if you cannot see the pink flesh on John Lennon's shoulder-its a fake Many counterfeits use a slightly enlarged copy of the front cover which cuts out the shoulder.
5- If the letters in the word STEREO (in the bottom right corner of the cover) run together-its a fake.All originals have the word STEREO printed in separate letters.
6- Normal size Labels.
7- All original copies have the matrix number of A 8018 pressed into Side 1 Label. No counterfeits have this feature.
8- "Bell sound stamped " into trail-off area.
