Rock 'n' Roll is the sixth studio album by John Lennon. Released in 1975, it is an album of late 1950s and early 1960s songs as covered by Lennon. Recording the album was problematic and spanned an entire year: Phil Spector produced sessions in October 1973 at A&M Studios, and Lennon produced sessions in October 1974 at Record Plant Studios (East). Lennon was being sued by Morris Levy over copyright infringement of one line in his song "Come Together", as part of an agreement, Lennon had to include three Levy-owned songs on Rock 'n' Roll. Spector ran away with the session recordings, later being involved in a motor accident, which left the album's tracks unrecoverable until the beginning of the Walls and Bridges sessions. With Walls and Bridges coming out first, featuring one Levy-owned song, Levy sued Lennon expecting to see Lennon's Rock 'n' Roll album.

The album was released in February 1975, reaching number 6 in both the United Kingdom and the United States, later being certified gold in both countries. The album was supported by the single "Stand by Me", which peaked at number 20 in the US, and 30 in the UK. The album's cover was taken by Jurgen Vollmer during the Beatles' stay in Hamburg. The album would be Lennon's last until 1980; he took a hiatus from recording to raise his son, Sean Lennon.

All records are professionally cleaned using a MOTH cleaning system prior to despatch. Not only does this wet clean/vacuuming process remove surface marks such as fingerprints, etc, it also significantly reduces background noise and many argue that the lower noise floor results in opening up of the sound and improved fidelity.

A word about hairline marks. It is almost impossible to find any non-sealed record without any hairline marks - many had them from new, particularly if sold with cardboard inner sleeves. They are a result of storage and use and have little impact on sound quality.

I package my records in the strongest purpose made mailers for maximum safety.

All records are removed from their picture sleeves where appropriate and posted in a separate plain white inner to avoid damage during transit.

The following is the scale I use to grade my records , please buy with confidence.

MINT:

The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks

or deterioration in sound quality.

The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition.

Records advertised as sealed or un-played should be mint.

EXCELLENT:

The record shows some signs of having been played,

but there is very little lessening in sound quality.

The vinyl may have some hairline surface scuffs which will be only slightly visible.

The cover and packaging might have minor wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD:

The record has obviously been played many times,

but displays no major deterioration in sound quality,

despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch.

Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items,

is acceptable.

GOOD:

The record has been played so much

that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated.

perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.

The cover suffers from folding, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
