Description

JOHN & BEVERLEY MARTYN "THE ROAD TO RUIN" U.S. white label promo LP (Warner Brothers) WS-1882 M-/M  The second album by man & wife British Folk duo released in 1970 by Warner Brothers in the States & Island in the U.K. Guitarist John had already released two solo albums ("London Conversation" & "The Tumbler") by the time he met & married Beverley Kutner in 1969. Beverley was also a performer having released a couple of Folk Rock singles on Deram & she had earlier appeared on Simon & Garfunkel's "Fakin' It" in 1967. The first collaboration of the newlywed couple was the highly acclaimed "Stormbringer" earlier in 1970. "The Road To Ruin" was produced by Joe Boyd & featured a stellar cast of musicians particularly Danny Thompson (from The Pentangle) on double bass & Paul Harris (who also co-arranged most tracks w/John) on piano. For the first time, John Martyn introduced his Jazz/Folk guitar technique which later characterized his work. Standout tracks include "Primrose Hill", "Auntie Aviator" &  the title track. John went on to record some landmark albums such as "Bless The Weather" & "Solid Air" while Beverley became a housewife raising their two kids. But this album remains one of the best Folk Rock records of the era & is still enjoyable today.
Side 1 1. Primrose Hill 2. Parcels 3. Auntie Aviator 4. New Day
Side 2 1. Give Us A Ring 2. Sorry To Be So Long 3. True Green 4. Say What You Can 5. Road To Ruin

The record has white Warner Brothers "Promotion Not For Sale" labels w/no spindle marks. There are no scratches or scuffs on the MINT record & it looks as though it has never been played. Impossible to find in this condition!
