J.J. Johnson Proof Positive stereo Impulse A-68 orange label w Van Gelder foldout cover
JJ Johnson (tb), Harold Mabern, McCoy Tyner (p), Toots Thielemans (g), Arthur Harper, Richard Davis (b), Frank Gant, Elvin Jones (d) Recorded 1964
Orange label w "Van Gelder" in runouts both sides.
The record looks and plays VG++. No scratches. A few light scuffs on each side that do not affect play. On "My Funny Valentine:, there is one bad groove due to press flaw that makes one "Crunch" type noise. Grooves do not show heavy wear. Otherwise plays very nice and quiet.
The cover is VG++.
A very nice cover. The front and back covers are very bright and glossy with light wear. There's a slight manufacturing defect on front at top at pocket. The slick was cut too long and is slightly bent over. The spine is bright, intact and readable. No split seams. Tiny wear spots at the corners. Inside the pocket is glossy with light wear.
Black lines that might be visible at bottom left and top right in pictures are due to photo cropping and not on cover.
My highest grade is M- and I rarely grade 50s or 60s records M-. Records are graded visually using the Goldmine system. M-, VG++, VG+, VG, VG- etc. I play grade any potential problem areas. I attempt to grade conservatively, listing all significant flaws. You will be satisfied. No hassles.
