Description

Jimmy McGriff - Electric Funk
Blue Note Records BST 84350 1970

Wow! this is an epic record with an amazing set of funky musicians. Every song is funky with super hard drums and bass riffs. Tons of samples waiting to still be used...

Arranged by Horace Ott.
Produced by Sonny Lester.

Jimmy McGriff - electronic organ
Blue Mitchell - trumpet
Stanley Turrentine - saxophone
Horace Ott - electric piano
Chuck Rainey - electric bass
Bernard Purdie - drums !!!

Cover is a gatefold and has noticeable ring wear on the outside but the inside is clean with no tears or seam splits. Solid readable spine too. VG+ grading. Check out the pics.

Vinyl looks perfect and I wavered on giving it a NM- grading but with the ring wear on the cover, I couldn't grade the vinyl NM-, so I am giving it a strong EX grading. Super clean, no warps, and plays perfectly. No skips or pops. EX+

I am very picky with my grading and I really try to price the records so we both feel satisfied. If you feel I missed the mark on the grading of a record you purchased, please reach out to me. I am selling a very large personal collection and look over a ton of vinyl everyday.

Here are my standards for grading records:

Near Mint Minus (NM-)
This is almost a perfect, brand new record and the vinyl will play perfectly. The cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits, cut-out holes, or other defects. The same goes for inserts, posters, lyric sheets, sleeves, etc.

Excellent (EX)
This record will show some signs that it has been played but taken care of, protected, and correctly stored by previous owners. Defects should be cosmetic and not affect the playback. Record surfaces may show signs of wear, slight scuffs, or very light scratches, but these shouldn't distract from or affect one's listening experience.  The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. Small spindle marks may be present. Picture sleeves and inner sleeves will have some slight wear, slightly turned-up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear, and may be marred by a promo hole, cut-out hole, notch cut, indentation, or cut corner.

Very Good Plus (VG+)
This record is still high quality in my collection. You may hear slight surface noise, subtle pops, and ticks when playing, but these sounds should only add to the warm analog feeling and not overpower the music otherwise. Scuffs or light scratches may be noticeable, but they shouldn't cause skips during playback. The cover or label may have writing, marks, or stickers. But I think these just add to overall mystique of the record's history.
