Description

AN EXCELLENT COPY OF THE TITLE TRACK FROM THE FILM "ROCK, PRETTY BABY" BY JIMMY DALEY AND THE DING-A-LINGS

"Jimmy Daley and the Ding a Lings" were a fictional band which featured in the 1956 film "Rock Pretty Baby". In fact the title track written by Sonny Burke was the only real "Rock n Roll" track in the film - which was more jazz influenced than Rock and Roll influenced. But this was the early days of Rock n Roll - the establishment hadn't quite cottoned on to what was actually going on - but knew that they could cash in on the rock and roll name if they used it in the film title!! Beautifully shot, but a bit thin on plot, the film centres around a high school band's efforts to win an important music competition.

On this track "Jimmy Daley" was actually Modernaires singer Alan Copeland and the "Ding-a-Lings" were a hybrid cut from the Crew Cuts, the Hi Fi Four, the Norman Petty Trio and the Jazz Quartet!

It is an interesting historical rock and roll record and a very hard 78 to find in the UK
