The records that I offer for sale have been critically play-graded, at loud volume, on a Rega Planar 3 turntable fitted with an Elys cartridge. I will only sell records that play to a high standard. Any significant playing defects will be detailed in the description below. I know how disappointing it is to receive a record graded as excellent, only to find that listening pleasure is spoiled by endless pops, loud clicks and intrusive background crackle. I guarantee that you will not buy such a record from me!!

The winning bidder can expect to receive a clean record, carefully packaged, with the vinyl removed from the inner and outer sleeves to prevent splits in transit.

Here for auction is an exceptional example of the album by JIMI HENDRIX titled “THE CRY OF LOVE”, Catalogue Number 2408 101 STEREO. This is an ORIGINAL 1971 * UK FIRST PRESSING* on the TRACK RECORD LABEL, with THE EARLIEST A//1, B//1 Matrix Numbers and VERY EARLY STAMPERS, PROVING THIS TO BE ONE OF THE EARLIEST PRESSINGS AVAILABLE. Extremely difficult to find in the superb condition offered here!!

The un-laminated *1st issue* gatefold sleeve, printed and made by the E. J. Day Group. London and Bedford, is in EXCELLENT+ CONDITION. It retains its original rigidity and shows barely any loss of condition. The front and back covers are unmarked with only a few tiny creases near the edges. The opening gatefold spread is pristine. The edges and corners show only the lightest of rubbing from storage. The spine is square and solid with all text clearly legible. There are no rips, stickers or writing. Overall a superb example of this classic sleeve!!

The *1st press* Track record is very solidly pressed with a square-cut rim edge. It retains a deep mirror-like shine and sits flat and true on the turntable. Visually in EXCELLENT CONDITION with just light sleeve removal type surface marks and hairlines evident. These are purely superficial and do not have any audio significance. The BEAUTIFUL MATT BLACK TRACK LABELS show just a few spindle traces on each side near the centre. There is very little wear around the spindle hole. 

PLAYGRADE ASSESSMENT:

This is a particularly vibrant and loud-cut pressing. Both sides play SUPERBLY with ALL FREQUENCIES CRYSTAL CLEAR. There are no pops or loud clicks, and an absolute minimum of unwanted noise. The first press mix is quite different from that of later pressings and sounds truly sensational played at loud volume. Arguably one of Hendrix’s best albums, and a thoroughly enjoyable listening experience. Several of the tracks have quiet passages which are easily spoiled by excessive crackle and surface sound. Not on this example – all play beautifully with very low levels of unwanted noise. A better playing 1st press copy may be very difficult to find!!

Complete with the original white poly-lined inner sleeve, which is in EXCELLENT CONDITION. This has “British Patent No..” and “MADE IN ENGLAND  11 0371” text at the bottom, which completes the 1st press credentials.

OVERALL A SUPERB COMPLETE FIRST PRESS EXAMPLE WITH NEAR PERFECT PLAYBACK - DON’T MISS THIS ONE!!!
