NEWSAGENT'S DESCRIPTION

This listing is for a RARE 1968 promotional U.S. pressing of Electric Ladyland, the groundbreaking third and final studio album by legendary psychedelic rock innovators The Jimi Hendrix Experience, released by Reprise Records (2RS 6307).

Produced and directed by Jimi Hendrix himself, the album includes landmark recordings such as “Voodoo Child (Slight Return),” “Crosstown Traffic,” “Burning of the Midnight Lamp,” and Hendrix’s iconic reinterpretation of Bob Dylan’s “All Along the Watchtower.” Released at the height of Hendrix’s creative peak and only two years before his death, Electric Ladyland remains one of the defining albums of psychedelic rock and late-1960s counterculture music.

This original promotional stereo edition features the iconic U.S. cover artwork, which differs dramatically from the controversial UK nude-cover edition and has since become one of the most recognizable psychedelic rock album covers of the era. The labels are marked “PROMOTION – NOT FOR SALE,” and the set was issued with the original Warner Bros.-Seven Arts Records inner sleeves commemorating the label’s tenth anniversary.

Promotional copies of Electric Ladyland were produced in significantly smaller quantities for radio station and industry distribution, making surviving copies increasingly rare. This copy comes from the original owner’s former radio station collection. The vinyl remains in very good condition, while the jacket shows some age and handling wear, including spine wear and ring wear, but still presents very well overall.

NEAR MINT (NM or M?)

Vinyl looks freshly opened with full gloss and no visible marks, spindle wear, or surface noise. Sleeve is crisp and clean with no creases, seam splits, or ring wear.

Very Good Plus (VG+)

Vinyl shows light signs of use, possibly a few minor scuffs or hairlines that do not affect play. Sleeve may show slight wear, including light edge wear, a small crease, or minimal ring wear.

Very Good (VG)

Vinyl has visible surface wear and light scratches, with occasional surface noise but no skips. Sleeve shows moderate wear such as ring wear, seam splits, writing, or creasing.

Good (G), Good Plus (G+), or Very Good Minus (VG?)

Poor (P) or Fair (F)

Vinyl is cracked, warped, or skips during playback and is typically unplayable. Sleeve is extremely damaged or destroyed, with severe tears, water damage, or missing elements.
