Description

This is an overall fine original U.S. pressing copy of Jimi Hendrix's post-Experience debut with the Band of Gypsys, a live LP recorded on New Year's Eve 1969-70 at the Fillmore East and released in 1970.  The record features all-new compositions, most by Hendrix, the highlight being the 12+ minute "Machine Gun," as chilling and eloquent an expression of the angst of the Vietnam War as any from the period.  Also included is a version of "Them Changes" (here simply "Changes"), which became the signature song of group drummer Buddy Miles.  This copy has the unique catalog number of Capitol's Record Club pressing (STAO 8-0472).  The gatefold jacket has ring wear and scuffing, corner and edge wear, and light spine and seam wear (VG++).  Visually, the disc is clean with some light scuffing.  Side 1 plays with some light surface noise and crackling, and occasional light popping, while side 2 plays better with occasional light surface noise -- overall EX(-).

I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades.  All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets.  The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves.  I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
