Condition of cover/record: EX / EX+ (Grading as used by Record Collector)
THE RAREST PRESSING OF HENDRIX'S DEBUT ALBUM, AND IN GREAT CONDITION!!!
The cover is in fantastic condition - front laminated and made by E J Day in London. The Laminate has protected it, and it is still clean, bright and colourful. There are a few minor laminate creases and a feint hint of ringwear, but they don't detract from the overall condition. The open edge has very minor wear, and there is a bit of rubbing at the top edge, about 2 inches. There is also minor wear at the corners. The back cover is not laminated and these are usually found very aged and worn. This one is not!!! Very good overall with just very slight aging and a hint of ringwear. There are 2 stickers on the back cover, from the record shop where it was originally bought in London in 1967!!! They are on the bottom edge, both the same, they say HARLEQUIN RECORD SHOPS and lists their London addresses. A bit of history!!! They are about 2 inches wide and 1/2 an inch high - see the pic below. The spine is quite worn, and that's the only down side. Still, great condition for a 38 year old cover, and grades a strong EX
The inner sleeve are the original plain white ones and are in great condition.
The two black and silver TRACK labels are bright, clean and crisp. These matt black labels tend to show the spindle marks, but here they are not too obvious, only a few and feint. On the side 2 label, there is a small silver smudge at the top, which I would guess happened at the factory. I would grade the labels EX+.
The vinyl is superb!!! Very clean, shiny and lusterous - looks almost new! There are one or two very light surface marks which prevent me from grading them MINT MINUS, and they do not interfere with the sound in any way. The audio is amazing and plays like new. It really seems that this was only played a couple of times, which is so rare with this classic record. Again, great for a 38 year old record, and grades a STRONG EX+
I have listened to this the whole way through to ensure an acurate description - aurally i would grade this as NEAR MINT!
