For your consideration is a clean, original copy of the very rare 1955 Latin Jazz album titled "Mambo For Cats" on RCA Records ... The cover art by legendary mid-century modern artist Jim Flora is truly superb ... the album covers designed in the 1950's by the late Jim Flora perfectly captured the wild jazz mania that swept over both the players and their audiences ...   Flora employed his full creative powers to unleash a vivid sense of movement, chaos, and vibration in the covers he created ... he wreaked havoc with the laws of physics, conjuring flying musicians, levitating instruments, and wobbly dimensional perspectives, all with a sense of uncommon glee ... of all of these album covers, none were as celebrated or as rare as "Mambo For Cats" ... the album itself was a victim of its own hype. Bill Zeitung's liner notes, which are written in Mad Beatnik / Jazz-DJ style, are over the top, but none of the tracks are particularly outstanding except the irresistible mid-century modern packaging ... Latin versions of old standards are not exactly the "livin' end", however collectors don’t want this rare LP for the music, but for the awesome cover art ... It displays very well and would look fantastic framed up or as the final touch of your space age bachelor pad ... this record comes from my personal collection of retro 1950's memorabilia ... in over 35 years of digging through crates, thrift shops, flea markets and record collections, this is the only copy I've ever run across ... I am selling this with no reserve and free Media Mail shipping.

Condition is nice ... The album itself has the normal wear one would expect with the vinyl having some light scuffing ... there's a scratch on Side One and some spindle wear, but is still very playable with no skips. ... the heavy cardboard jacket is in nice condition with bright, vivid colors ... no writing, markings, moisture damage, rips, tape or creases ... some cover scuffing and soiling, mostly on the back of the jacket ... there is a 3 1/2" seam split on the top opening of the cover and a 2 1/2" seam split on the bottom opening ... please carefully review all the detailed images provided ... LP will be shipped in a protective poly-sleeve with the vinyl outside the cardboard jacket in it's original inner paper sleeve and bubble wrap inside a heavy-duty cardboard mailer  ... a clean, collectable copy carefully and securely packaged to insure safe FREE Media Mail shipping with no damage.
