''JETHRO TULL'' (DEBUT ALBUM) 1ST UK PRESSING   (((STEREO)))   CAT NO.ILPS 9085 !!!!! AWESOME ORIGINAL 1ST 'PINK ISLAND (TEXTURED) LABELS' TOP! TOP!  NEAR MINT AUDIO!!PERFECT ON MY SYSTEMS! BARELY EVER PLAYED! MEGA RARE ORIGINAL 1ST ISSUE ''WIDE SPINED'' WITH INTERNAL FLIPBACK LAMINATED GATEFOLD COVER!!!! HIGHLY COLLECTABLE AND SOUGHT AFTER ORIGINAL 1ST!!! ONE OF THE BEST COPIES THAT I HAVE HEARD! !

'Another from my personal collection! Collected over a period of 35 years I have accumilated more than 50,000 albums alone mainly UK pressings! This original has been stored in a case for the best part of 25 years!! ,, With the vinyl seperated from the sleeve and cover the way that I have always stored my vinyls!! Even visually it is quite obvious that this 41 year old album has been lovingl;y cared for after all of these years! I have played the vinyl prior to listing on a top system at very loud volume! The Audio is perfect cristal clear and very vibrant as good as it gets in my personal opinion this plays as new graded as near mint!! The vinyl has only ever been played a handfull of times ever, quite unbeleivable for a 41 year old Jethro Tull vinyl!

'This Was'' (1968) is the first album by the rock band Jethro Tull. Recorded at a cost of only £1200 GBP, the album was definitely the work of amateurs on the rock music scene; however, the album received generally favorable reviews and sold well upon its release. In the documentary film of the Woodstock Festival, portions of the song "Beggar's Farm" may be heard on the PA system, indicating that the album had achieved some notice in the United States. The album achieved number 10 on the UK Album Chart!!!!.

Unlike their later albums, vocalist Ian Anderson shared songwriting chores with guitarist Mick Abrahams. The album overall has more of a rhythm and blues feel than the progressive rock feel the band is better known for!!!!.

This album also contains the only Jethro Tull song not sung by Ian Anderson, "Move On Alone." which had horns worked by David Palmer. Mick Abrahams sings vocals on this song!!!!!.

Abrahams left the group following this album!!!!.

The album includes a cover version of the jazz tune "Serenade to a Cuckoo" by Roland Kirk, whose flute technique was an influence on Anderson!!!!!.

  1. "My Sunday Feeling" (Anderson) – 3:43
  2. "Some Day the Sun Won't Shine for You" (Anderson) – 2:49
  3. "Beggar's Farm" (Abrahams/Anderson) – 4:19
  4. "Move on Alone" (Abrahams) – 1:58
  5. "Serenade to a Cuckoo" (Kirk) – 6:07
  6. "Dharma for One" (Anderson/Bunker) – 4:15
  7. "It's Breaking Me Up" (Anderson) – 5:04
  8. "Cat's Squirrel" (Traditional, arranged by Abrahams) – 5:42
  9. "A Song for Jeffrey" (Anderson) – 3:22
  10. "Round" (Anderson/Abrahams/Bunker/Cornick/Ellis) – 1:03

The Matrix

Side A.''ILPS + 9085 + A'' (MACHINE STAMPED EARLIEST EVER)

Side B. ''ILPS + 9085 + B'' (MACHINE STAMPED EARLIEST EVER)

The Vinyl

This is the MEGA heavier and thick type of vinyl only found on early pressings later are much more flimsier and less robust, In fact the vinyl actualy weighs 180 grams!!!! Also from my experience the thick vinyls produce the best audio quality!!!!!

On initial inspection the vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable!! The vinyl retains its original glossy sheen from new and indeed looks like new in my personal opinion  AWESOME for an unbelievable 41 years old!!! Any marks\scuffs that could possibly be seen in strong light would be sleeve removal only and (non) audio sounding,, unbeleivable and to be honest it is hard for me to see even a blemish!!

The Audio Quality

I have played this vinyl through three times prior to listing at very very loud volume on a top system! In fact I enjoyed the album sop much I had to play it again and again! This plays through cristal clear and vibrant throughout with (no) signs of grooveware or that this has been overplayed what so ever!!!! No problems at all on my system in fact it was perfect as good as it gets in my personal opinion one of the best that I have ever heard, truly stunning audio seperation a real deep basey feel!  (no) distortion (no) clicks or pops and certainly (no) jumps or skips just perfect stunning audio as new in my opinion!  I would class myself as highly critical! Please look at my completed listings of records that i have solds of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!!!! I would rate this audio top top on all frequencies one of the best that I have heard!!! very vibrant\awesome!!!  The audio will be hard to surpass for an original 40 year old vinyl!!!!!! TOP TOP AUDIO ON ALL FREQUENCIES!!AUDIO GRADED AS NEAR MINT!!

The Labels

These are the original 'PINK ISLAND (TEXTURED)LABELS'' With the original 'BLACK ORANGE 'CIRCLE' LOGO (ONLY 1ST PRESSINGS) in awesome condition !! Amaizingly it is hard to see any spider marks around the spindle hole or even signs that this has been played at all!!Mega rare like this! This vinyl has barely ever been played more than a handful of times ever!!

The cover

This is the original  1ST PRESS LAMINATED FRONT, WIDE SPINED GATEFOLD COVER  Also in awesome condition for an original 40 year old cover!!!!Amaizingly ,, Super glossy laminate appearance and features  the super large internal flipbacks (only 1st press) and the LARGE\WIDE SPINE in exceptional condition (see photos) barely any real creases on the front and rear worth to mention any light creases are on the internal and are only really noticable if looked for! Only if looked for can an inobtrusive  scuff scratch be seen at the rear but nothing to worry about in my opinion.  The writing can be seen and read clearly at the spine and has the correct catalogue number!! EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION WILL BE HARD TO SURPASS!!!must be at least excellent!!!

Points to note! I have played this vinyl at very loud volume using a top system!  I always add this disclaimer! I have given my very honest opinion on the audio quality as I heard it! Please allow for the odd very (very) light static  here and there (not) consistant throughout the audio!! Please remember this is a genuine 40 year old vinyl that would have been played on a 40 year old system!!!!!
