RAREST  EVER EARLIEST PRESS VERY NEAR MINT AUDIO!

Another from my personal collection of ove 50,000 UK albums that I have accumulated over a period of more than 45 years!, only ever played a minimal amount of times in 36 years quite unbeleivable, This is the original earliest 1st UK pressing ''Porky' and 'Pecko' hand etched on the run off grooves and features the earlist matrix for this pressing!, and features early ''1'' to ''2'' mother stampers (earliest makes all the difference for the best\vibrant audio quality)  Importantly features white rim text and the white 'i' logo (only found on the earliest press) The novalty newspaper cover has been seperated from the vinyl to prevent damage to the cover and has been kept in a case for at least 25 years, lovely and white exterior rare to find like this! This is how I have always stored my vinyls! The audio quality is exceptional through out rich and vibrant very near mint in my opinion any static ticks was very isolated and plays with no loud clicks or pops through out!  A very very rare collectable UK 1st Pressing! One of the most vibrant that I have heard!

Thick as a Brick (1972) is a concept album by the British rock band Jethro Tull. Its lyrics are built around a poem written by a fictitious boy, "Gerald Bostock" a.k.a. "Little Milton" (Ian Anderson himself). The album featured only one song, lasting over 43 minutes. To accommodate the album on LP vinyl and cassette, the seamless track was split on both sides of the record!

The epic is notable for its numerous time signature and tempo changes (not uncommon to the newly emerging progressive rock subgenre of rock), as well as a large number of themes throughout the piece, resembling a typical classical symphony in this regard, rather than a typical rock song!.

Released in 1972, Thick As A Brick was Tull's first true prog rock offering, four years after the release of their first album!

 Not only was the musical structure complex, but many instruments uncommon in rock music were added. Whereas in prior numbers the band were content with guitars, drums, piano, Hammond organ, and Ian Anderson's signature flute, Thick As A Brick included harpsichord, xylophone, violin, lute, trumpet, and a string section (as well as acoustic guitar, electric guitar, drums, bass, piano, and flute)!

While the previous album, Aqualung, stretched the band's wings further from the blues of the first three albums, it was still basically mainstream rock!

 Band leader Ian Anderson was surprised by the critical reaction to the previous album Aqualung as a "concept album", a label he has firmly rejected to this day. In an interview on In the Studio with Redbeard (which spotlighted Thick as a Brick), Ian Anderson's response to the critics was "if the critics want a concept album we'll give them a concept album and we'll make it so bombastic and so over the top." With Thick as a Brick, the band created an album deliberately integrated around one concept: a poem by an intelligent English boy about the trials of growing up!.

 Beyond this, the album was a send-up of all pretentious "concept albums". Anderson also stated in that interview that "the album was a spoof to the albums of Yes and Emerson, Lake and Palmer much like what the movie Airplane had been to Airport". The formula was successful, and the album reached number one on the charts in the United States!

The ensuing tour involved a single 42-minute performance without intermission, but with short comedic interjections and extended instrumental solos. One comedy item involved Anderson announcing that a horse had strayed into the theater, whereupon a crew member sitting in the audience would stand up in a spotlight, take off an overcoat revealing a jockey suit, and leave the auditorium carrying a saddle. Despite the length of the performance, only the first half of the album was performed, the second half being represented only by the coda. There are no known official video or film recordings. Later live performances feature a shortened version of the first side, such as the 12 minutes and 30 seconds version on the live album Bursting Out!

The original LP cover was a spoof of a twelve by sixteen inch (305 by 406 mm) multipage local newspaper with stories, competitions, adverts, etc., lampooning the parochial and amateurish local journalism that still exists in many places today, as well as certain classical album covers. The "newspaper" also includes the entire lyrics to the song, and references to the lyrics are scattered throughout the articles. !

The labels

The original Green Chrisalis labels are awesome! Any spider marks are just minimal only barely noticed unless angled to the light! Unbeleivable for 36 years old! Try to find better! There is little if no spindle wear the hole is perfectly round!

The Vinyl.

The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable. To start with on initial inspection I can't see any deep surface marks or indeed any marks that would cause any nasty loud clicks or pops and visually still retains its original sheen from new! Any marks that could possibly be seen would be light whyspy sleeve removal type marks and possibly the odd scuff (at least nothing that would cause any loud clicks or pops but just perhapes the odd isolated light background static or minor tick only)  I have stored this vinyl seperately from the cover in a case for the best part of 25 years! This vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turn table. Looks and sounds barely ever played!

Please note! This has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 25 years or more! A build up of dirt and dust over the years in the grooves causes static crackle\ticks! A constant clean before each play is recommended!,,, This will reduce any static and enhance the audio quality!

The audio Quality

I have played this vinyl through track for track at very loud volume on a top system! The audio is cristal clear and vibrant through out with no signs of distortion or that this has been over played what so ever! Absolutely awesome top top audio through out!  Points to note! It is easy to be critical about these early seventies pressings, especially I have noticed that Chrysalis vinyls are very soft in comparison to other vinyls ! Please allow for the odd isolated light static/tick  perhaps heard on the run offs or in quieter places only (not consistant throughout the audio! Please note there is (no) clicks or pops and certainly (no) skips or jumps  Audio grades as very, very near perfect in my opinion!

Audio graded at least excellent plus to very Near Mint!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd isolated light static /tick that may be heard only in isolated quiet parts only (not) consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that this is a genuine 36 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 36 year old system! In my personal opinion you will find this audio hard to surpass!

This is plain white paper sleeve with light creasing/fading with age only (no) splits or tares!

The cover!

This is the original 1st uk press Textured front Newspaper cover all pages intact this is complete!  Mega rare and very hard to keep and find in this awesome condition! This is super white in appearence and is probably one of the best that I have seen,  Amaizingly with this very fragile cover there is no real creases to mention on the exterior, perhape minor corner bumping only! There some light creases on the inside papers and slight browning\fading  with age (common on this cover)! Any rubbing ware is only slight at the fold edges and corners only and only really noticable if looked for! Super white! Slightly textured cover (only 1st issues the hardest to ever find in good condition) later press are smoother in appearance! ABSOLUTELY STUNNING 1ST PRESS COVER AT LEAST Excellent to excellent plus in my opinion !
