Description
Albums of my youth......
I bought my first album in 1955 and have continued to buy records until
the present day. Unfortunately, none of my family has shown any interest
in any of them so, I have decided to sell some of them. All records will be
cleaned TWICE on my MOTH machine (see photo). This loosens the
majority of the dust particles that have found their way into the grooves
over the years. They are then put into new polythene inners.
The original inners will, of course, be supplied as well.
A polythene outer will also be supplied.
And because, in the past, I've sometimes been disappointed by some
records' condition, each is played and, using a stopwatch, any fault is
noted down. They are then cleaned again and play-checked once again,
as the second clean can sometimes make a difference.
For interested parties, I have owned a Michell Gyrodeck for the last
21 years and cartridges used have been by Denon, Pickering and Shure.
Previous decks have been by Connoiseur and Garrard.
As my Music Fidelity amp has no treble or bass controls I can only
listen to records as, presumably, the recording engineer meant them
to sound. These controls may allow you to lessen or even eradicate
some faults. Speakers, for listening purposes, are original Quad
Electrostatics.
The descriptions are meant to be as accurate as possible but it is
sometimes difficult to explain certain sounds.
Terms: -
t = tick (moderate), v = very, f = faint,
h = heavy (but certainly playable), < = getting louder, > = getting softer,
mt = multiple ticks, (e.g. 2 + 3t) = when an audible scratch stops and starts
again, sw = swish (usually made by a mark which follows the groove)
pf = pressing fault ( a small 'bubble' or 'dent' caused during manufacture
and nothing to do with the user)
Of course, selling this way takes time, so I can only manage a few in any
given period.
STARTING PRICE – This covers the cost of postage and packing only.
Records realising £35 and over will be sent by registered post, over £50,
insured, both at no extra charge to the winning bidder. Records payed
for by Sunday night will be posted on Monday. Other winning bidders
must pay within 3 days. These will be posted on Wednesday/Thursday.
Proof of postage will be obtained.
PLEASE NOTE – PAYPAL ONLY
RETURNS – are accepted and a full refund given if returned in the
condition they left me, but please, email me first if there is something
wrong and, if you don't like what you read, please don't bid.
Descriptions can sometimes look quite terrifying but, so far, there's
been nothing more than what is usually accepted as 'normal',
well-cared-for wear and tear.
POSTAGE AND PACKING – records will be sent first class in
custom-made 'cruciform' boxes with stiffeners.
EU and REST OF THE WORLD – postage is reduced to match the free postage
in the UK. Added postage for EU is £1.50, REST OF THE WORLD, £3.00.
PLEASE WAIT FOR AN INVOICE BEFORE PAYING.
Having recently parted with my 'In the Court of the Crimson King', here now is
another Island recording, Jethro Tull's 'Aqualung'. This is another beautiful
recording where each instrument, placed perfectly in the stereo spectrum,
seems to travel, from time to time, from left to right, or vice versa. Very
effective - very clever!

VINYL – apart from some very light scuff marks on both sides, the disc is in
excellent condition. Obviously a first edition, I can't make out what's
written on the run-out grooves at 3 o'clock, though at 9 o'clock side 1
has '1' and side 2 has '2'.
Plays very cleanly and silently apart from some odd light 'crackle' and the minor
faults, listed below.
LABELS – though the disc has been played a few times, they are still pretty clean.
Top rim reads, 'Manufactured and distributed by Island Records Ltd'
COVER – The textured cover is in EX+ condition, with the mildest wear to the top
and bottom, moreso to the front than to the back.
Inside gatefold is virtually 'as new'.
At back bottom right is 'Printed and made by the E J Day Group,
London and Bedford'
SPINE - EX+
INNER SLEEVE – EX condition with some very slight discolouration (foxing).
Both sides have a tear of about 3cm half way up.
